I don't know you.
But I still hate you.
See all I know is my girlfriend used to date you.
Who'd you like it if she held you down and raped you?
Tried and tried, but never could escape you.

Eve-- Love Is Blind

Mimi walked into the school hallways. She had been absent for over a week, and everyone was wondering why. A sudden hush was heard, as she walked past groups of people. Instantly, they began mumbling, and gossiping behind her back.

She held herself protectively, not letting anyone get within 10 feet of her. She would back away, anytime someone would move in her general direction.

Her hair was uncombed, tangled, and pulled up in a very lopsided ponytail. Strands were sticking out, completely static ridden.

Her clothes were wrinkled beyond ironing. Her beautiful white blouse, had long creases in it. Like she had been sleeping in it. Her long pink skirt, had another seam in it, and it was crumpled. Like it was in a heap on her floor, for a very long time.

She had deep, dark circles of black under her eyes. Her eyes alone, were red. Bloodshot from crying. She made no attempt to cover them with foundation, or make up. In fact, she wasn't even wearing make up.

People cleared a way for her, whispering uncontrollably now. "What do you think happened to her?" she heard a girl say. When she looked over at her, the girl ducked away.

"I heard she was suspended for doing drugs." said a boy in 10th grade. His brown hair covered his features, but she could tell he was laughing at her.

"Is that even her? I mean. She looks horrible." said another girl, from her art class.

Just then, Tai came running over to her. He had no problem rushing through the crowds, because there were none. "Hey! I was getting worried about you!" he said placing his arm around her shoulder, and leaning in to give her a kiss.

Mimi pushed him away violently. "Don't touch me!" she yelled too loudly, as a bunch of people who weren't staring, began to look with curiosity. "I'm sorry Tai." she apologized when she saw the sad look in his gorgeous brown eyes. "It's just. I was really sick. I don't want you to catch it!" she lied. She touched his shoulder apologetically, and gave a weak smile.

"Oh!" he said relieved. "How about I take you out tonight then? As a, welcome back date. We could go dancing. Dinner. A movie if you want." he said slyly, he slid his hand back around her shoulders.

The touch of his skin on hers, sent shiver up her spine, filling her with horrible memories, she tried to forget. She froze on the spot, again. She wanted to cry out, but she couldn't. She wanted to cry out like last time, but the voice kept repeating, over and over again. It scared her to death.

Before she knew it, Tai had tipped her chin back, and placed a long kiss on her lips. Gently, he stroked her hair, and pulled her close to his body.

It was happening all over again. The exact motions. The exact same timing. She wouldn't go through it again. She just wouldn't! This time, she took action. She didn't let herself be toyed with. Manipulated.

She pulled back. "Tai, remember. I was sick!" she said, not trying to sound mean.

"If it came from you, it can't be all that bad!" he said smiling his smile, that made Mimi's knees go weak. This time, it had no effect. He leaned in again.

"No!" she said stepping away from him. "Please Tai, don't make me do this."

"Make you do what?" he said angrily. He never could keep his temper. "What's wrong with a guy kissing his girlfriend!?"

"You couldn't understand." she said turning away from him, and rushing into the girls bathroom.

"What's wrong Mimi?" he asked himself. "First you miss school. Then you don't return any of my calls. Then you don't want to kiss me." he said lying out all the facts, as he walked to his first class. History.

"So, in Ancient Egypt, Cleopatra was the queen, until its downfall. Over the course of her life, she had many affairs, and her most famous one, was with Marc Anthony, and Julius Cesar...." rambled Mr. Yuyama, the history teacher.

Tai hadn't been paying attention, all during class. But, at the small mention of the word affair, his mind started working over time. 'Could Mimi be seeing someone else!?' he thought, as he glanced over at her. She was bent over her history book, not looking at the teacher. Or anyone for that matter. She had let her hair down, and combed out most of the tangles. Now, her beautiful hair, was covering her face, so no one could see her face.

The captain of the football team, was looking at her intently. A bunch of his other jock friends were snickering, and talking to him, while pointing to her. He smiled proudly, and started making odd shapes with his hands.

In frustration, Tai snapped his pencil in half. His anger was blinding him at this point. 'Could you be seeing Noah?' he though. No. Not even Noah would be that stupid.

The teacher turned around at the sound, and spotted the talking group. "Well. Noah. Since you seem to be having a very vivid conversation with your friends, it must be about my lesson. So, will please repeat to the class what I was just telling them?" Mr. Yuyama said crossing his arms, and smiling proudly. He had caught him!

Noah stood up, and gave a very fake smile to the class. He pushed a piece of his brown hair away from his face, and spoke. "You were just saying, that Cleopatra, screwed everyone she met to get to the top, but in the end, it was her empire's downfall." he then sat down and smiled happily to himself.

"Correct." the teacher sighed. "But please, use more suitable language for class. Leave the slang for outside." he said, returning to his lecture.

Mimi flinched at the sound of his voice. Her whole body seemed to have convulsed suddenly. When he tossed her a piece of paper, Mimi's eyes widened. She crumpled it, and threw it back at him.

He blocked it easily, and let it fall to the floor, rolling slightly. The group laughed, and continued to smile.

Finally, the class bell rang. The echoing sound, lingered in the halls, until the voices of chattering kids filled it. Everyone filed out of class, in a mad dash. School was finally over!

Mimi was one of the first to leave, so Tai didn't have a chance at catching up to her. He looked for something else in the room. The note Noah had thrown her.

Finally, he spotted it, near the desk across from him. He read the note once he got it un-crumpled. 'Pick up, where we left off?' was all that was written in green ink.

Tai reached out for a desk, to regain his balance. "You are seeing him." he said sadly. 'No Tai! Don't think that!' his mind told him. 'Mimi loves you. It must be some sort of misunderstanding!' "I wish I could believe that." he said as he ripped the note in half, and tossed it in the recycling bin.

He had soccer practice now. Something to get his mind off his problems.

1 Week Later

After school one day, Tai couldn't take it anymore. He looked for her, through the crowds of people. He spotted her, and instantly dashed off to her side. She was almost out the door.

"Mimi." he said grabbing her arm, and pulling her in back of the school, away from prying ears.

"Tai. You're hurting me!" she said, trying to loosen his death grip on her arm.

"Please let me go." she said, as she dropped her books.

"Not until you tell me what's going on!" he said angrily. "For the last two weeks, you've been acting different, and I don't like it. Just tell me what's going on!"

Mimi stared into his eye. The look of hurt, was almost blinding him. And her. She wanted to run over to him, and hold him close. Telling him that everything was going to be okay, and that nothing was wrong.

But that wasn't right. Nothing was all right. In fact, everything was worst than she could ever imagine.

"Tai... I want to tell you... I really do..." she said starting to cry.

"Then tell me!" he said sincerely. "Please tell me!"

"I can't!" she sobbed loudly, covering her eyes. Tears only reminded her more and more of the nightmare, she had called her life. "I can't..."

"It's another guy right?" he said crossly. Any feeling of remorse he might of had, was completely gone.

Mimi looked at him. Her eyes swelled with tears. "Tai..." she said softly.

"I'm right." he blurted out. "You are seeing someone else."

"No!" she said hastily. "It's nothing like that!"

"Then tell me what!" he said. His arms flailing about.

"You'd hate me if I told you." she said in a small voice, dropping to the ground, and letting the tears flow openly. She just wanted to die.

She knew she was killing her boyfriend. The one person that understood, and loved her. She knew she was hurting her family, by pushing them away. She knew it all, but couldn't do anything.

Never in her life had she felt so vulnerable or helpless. So weak. So broken and violated.

She wrapped her arms around her again. Taking deep breaths of air. She wanted Tai to leave, but at the same time, stay and comfort her. She wanted everything, but at the same time, nothing.

Black was white. Up was down. In was out. Light was darkness. That was her world right now. Nothing made sense. She didn't understand anything. Why me? That was the only question going through her mind, 24/7. It was like she was trapped in a small, flooding room, with no way out.

She was drowning in her misery and fear. Maybe never to escape the darkness. Escape the darkness that had been the past two weeks.

Tai bent down to her eye level. "Please tell me. You know you can trust me." he said reassuringly, as he stroked her hair. "I want to help, you, but you know I do. But I can't, unless you tell me."

"It's okay Tai." said Mimi, giving her one of her heart melting smiles. "Just this talk has already made me feel better." she looked up at him, and lightly kissed his cheek.

"You need any sort of help. You come to me." he said smiling.

"You know I will." she said, as he leaned in, and kissed her. She was a little tense at first, but she knew it was Tai. Tai wouldn't hurt her. He would never do anything like that.

"Kamiya!" shouted Noah, rushing over to him. "You coming to practice or not? I mean, do you want me to tell coach you'll be spending the rest of the day with your girlfriend?" he said smiling.

Mimi buried her head in his chest, avoiding all eye contact with Noah. She wanted to tell Tai. Right there, right in front of him. Tai would protect her. Wouldn't her? He loved her. Of corse he would.

"Hi Mimi." he said coyly. "Are you okay? You don't look well."

She didn't respond. She looked at Tai. Her eyes pleading, no, begging to make him leave. Tai caught on.

"Um. Noah, could you give us a few minutes alone?" he asked. A week ago, he would have severely beaten him, if he had talked to him.

"Sure." he said. As he was walking off, he winked at Mimi, and placed his index finger to his lips, smiling secretively.

Mimi shuddered involuntarily. "What was that all about?" he asked.

"Nothing." she said turning away from him.

"That wasn't nothing!" he said persistently.

"Leave it alone Tai. It doesn't concern you." she snapped, as she got up, and started walking away.

"Oh no you don't!" he screamed, as he rushed in front of her, blocking off all the exit ways.

"Please Tai. I.... I don't know how to tell you this! I don't even know, if I want you knowing." she said, wiping away the small streaks of tears, that vandalized her skin.

"Mimi!" he said frustrated. "You have to tell me! It's tearing us apart!"

"Don't you think I know that?" she said bitterly. "I just can't tell you, because of what you might do, or what he might do." she said to the ground, dulling her voice into a whisper.

"He? What he might do? What does that mean?" he said to her, grabbing her shoulders, and shaking her lightly.

"Tai.... In the last few weeks.... well it was a situation. I want to forget. I just want to forget it ever happened. Erase it from my mind you know?" she said forcing a laugh, and walking past him slightly.

She wanted him near her. She wanted him to help her fight off the demons in her mind. "Remember, after the party," she began to explain slowly. Letting every word skink into Tai's mind.

Every movement she made, was recorded in his mind. The way her hair fell. The way she walked nervously, pacing almost. The way she would stop, and try to think of a better word, or way of explaining it.

"What happened?" he whispered, scared out of his mind. Mimi had never acted like this before, in her life.

She sighed nervously, choking back tears, and trying to breathe at the same time. "Remember how I said, I'd be able to get back home okay?"

"Yeah." he said numbly, as he sat down, on the large grey slab of cement, that had no other purpose, than sitting or leaning.

"Well, I was right." she smiled. "You know. The last thing I can remember doing, was kissing you, and telling you how much I loved you."

"I remember that.' he said, welcoming the happy memory.

"Well. Getting home was easy. It was what was in my house that scared me out of mind. Not at first though." she added quickly. She passed her hand through her hair, pushing it back frustrated. "Well, when I got home, there was a note tacked onto the door, from my parents. It said, that they would be back in the morning. They had to go to my grandmother's house or something. I can't really remember."

She wiped a tear away, with her left hand, and placed her palm in her hand. "I don't know how to say this." she mumbled, as she grabbed herself again, this time, she was almost like a cocoon. Her whole body seemed to fold in, like she was really sick or something.

"Go on." Tai said, giving her a reassuring pat on the shoulder.

"Wh... when I got in, someone was there. The door was open, so I figured they came back, and just forgot to take down the note."

"Was it them?" said Tai, knowing perfectly well it wasn't them. She wouldn't be so scared, if it were them.

She shook her head. "It... it was this guy. At first, I couldn't see his face, because his back was to me." she explained. "I can still remember every word said." she said, stepping back from him slightly. Her whole body was trembling, and she couldn't stop it.

As her feet shuffled back, she could fell all the strength draining her, wanting to make her collapse in a heap on the floor. Seeing Tai so attentive and concerned, gave her the will to go on, even though she didn't want to.

He got up, and motioned toward her, but she held out her hand, in protest. 'He's so worried.' she noted. 'Why couldn't you have been there with me? I would have felt safer. Protected. Not like this!' she said disgusted with her pride. In the end, it screwed her over big time.

"He turned to look at me, as I said who's there. He was holding a picture of me and you. The one I keep on the table in the hallway." she said. Her eyes glazed over, as if she was trying to remember a repressed memory.

Her hands were moving with her dialect, describing everything so perfectly, Tai could have sworn he was right there with her.

"He then placed the photo down on the table, but it tipped over, and fell back. I was really scared, but I knew him. I actually knew the guy!" she said turning to him. "The curtains had been pulled back, giving the room a dark shadow of black and grey, like something out of a horror movie." she said softly.

Tai was as petrified as she was. He didn't like what he was hearing.

"He smiled at me, and walked up to me. He hugged me. Holding me very close to him. I hugged back, because I thought it would hurt his feelings if I didn't. He obviously took it the wrong way, because he kissed me."

Tai's eyes widened with jealousy. He was a very protective boyfriend, and he despised it when other guys would hit in her.

"I pushed away from him, a second later. He stumbled back a step, and advanced again. Without really thinking, I slapped him. I slapped him so hard, my fingers began to sting. I could tell they were red from the contact, and they just hurt so much..." she said, almost begging him to believe her.

"What happened after that?" he said through his clenched teeth. He would have exploded any minute now.

"He grabbed my hand, and squeezed it tight. It was cutting off the circulation in my hand, making the tips of my fingers, turn an odd purple color...." she said looking at her right hand and wrist. She pulled up her long sleeve, and showed him the large mark.

Tai grabbed her wrist, and examined it horrified. He gently passed his index fingers over the large mark. Already, he could feel his heart sinking. His whole world was spinning around him, and all the colors began switching on him.

The sky was orange. The grass was red. Trees were purple and blue. He felt like slapping himself, to set his mind back on track. 'God... if this is what I'm feeling, just by her telling me, she must be insane, having to go through it.' he thought, as he stepped to her.

He couldn't take it anymore. He had to hold her. Let her cry on him. Tai didn't want to let her go. She clutched onto him, letting his arms wrap around her. She wasn't and would never be afraid of Tai. She wasn't scared of anything he did. He would always be her guardian angel. Always.

"You don't have to tell me, if you don't want to." he said reconsidering what he was doing to her.

"No." she said defiantly. "I started this, and I'm going to finish it!" she said, as tears dropped off her chin, hitting her blouse. Soon, she had small tear stains on the white materiel.

"Mimi. I'm hurting you. I don't want to hurt you." he said rubbing her arm.

"No. It's not you Tai." she said softly. "I.... I just want to forget. Make it all go away." she stopped, and just stared at nothing. "But I can't. This is one of those things, you never forget."

"Mimi, you're scaring me." said Tai, looking at her concerned. His eyes were filled with panic and dread.

"I'm sorry." she said hushed. 'I'm so sorry." she said collapsing in his arms.

"Mimi, no. It's not like that." he said grabbing her pulsating body. He could feel her heart on his chest. It was thumping faster than ever before.

'Just tell him Mimi.' she told herself over and over again. 'He loves you! It wasn't your fault!'

"Mimi. I'm gonna take you home." he said softly. He could feel her head nodding in agreement, so her helped her, to his car.

Finally, after what seemed like a six-hour car trip, he made it to her apartment. Mimi got out her keys, and opened the door.

She turned on the light to her side, and rushed to the kitchen. Tai examined the tidy house. Mimi's mother was always a neat freak. She was always cleaning, no matter what time of day it was.

He walked over to the small table in the hallway. He glanced at the assortment of photos. One stuck out in his mind, as he picked up the one of them.

He stared down at the smiling faces of him self and Mimi. They were at the fair, and Mimi had a big stuffed Winnie the Pooh bear in her arms. The one he had won for her. There was a slight crack in the glass. One that ran from one corner, to the other.

Mimi came back out, carrying two cups. When she saw him, she almost dropped them.

"Put that down." she almost ordered.

"This was the photo the guy made fall back. Wasn't it?" he asked, placing it back in its spot.

"Yeah." she whispered, placing the cups on the coffee table in the living room. She took a seat at the couch, and began fiddling with her hair.

"Mimi. What happened that night?" asked Tai, as he took a seat next to her.

"Something horrible." she said simply, letting tears fall from her eyes. "The guy....."

"What did the guy do? Did he take something?" he asked, skeptically.

Mimi thought for a moment. She then nodded her head slowly. "But what he stole, nobody can get back." she cried. "He.... he grabbed my hand, and twisted it behind my back." she said forcing the memory. "I fell to my knees in pain. My whole arm was killing me. I couldn't even feel it any more." she said, as she gently rubbed her arm.

Tai hugged her protectively. She scrunched up into a small ball, which he held in his arms. He kissed the top of her head, awaiting for her to continue her story.

"I tried to scream, but he held a knife to my throat, and said he'd kill me if I shouted." she said, as she pulled one of her arms free, from his tight grasp, and touched her neck. "I didn't speak. I barely breathed." she stifled a cry. "When he knew he had some sort of control over me, he pulled me to my feet. He spun me around, releasing my arm. He picked me up, and carried me to my room." she said sobbing loudly.

Tai's eye's opened as he realized what had happened to her. His stomach was in a knot, twisting wildly. "Oh my God." was all he could force out of his mouth.

"He raped me... and said if I told anyone, he'd be back... and that he'd kill me...." she said, crying madly. "I told him I didn't care if he killed me, but then he said he'd hurt you..... I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if anything happened to you Tai.... I love you so much....."

"Mimi." he said crying himself. "I love you too." he said tightening his grasp, to one that would be able to suffocate her. "Oh my God I love you." he said.

Mimi squeezed him, just as tight, making him feel worse. "This is all because of me." he said. "The only reason you kept this was a secret, was because of me." he said angry with himself. "I should have walked you home. I should have walked you home, and I could have protected you... and.." he said. Mimi cut him off in mid sentence.

"This wasn't your fault Tai." she said softly.

"Who did this to you?" he demanded. "Who the hell did this!?" he said getting off the sofa, and looking at her. Mimi could see the hate burning in his soul. He was ready to kill, and he probably would. She turned away from him.

"I don't want you hurt." she said weakly.

"And I don't want you hurt either!" he screamed at her. "

You mean everything to me Mimi, and I'll make the son of a bitch who did this to you pay!"

Mimi began crying again. "I don't want you hurt!" she screamed. "He'll hurt you! He'll hurt you worse than he did me!" she screamed back, standing up. Her hair was sticking to her face, via her tears. Her eyes were red and puffy again. Her shirt was all twisted on her frail shoulders, and she was hysterical.

"I can take care of myself." he said reassuringly. "I just hope this guy can defend himself." he said threateningly. "No, Mimi. Who was it?"

"Mr. Yuyama." she said quietly.

"Mr. Yuyama..." he said reeling back from the shock. "He.... he..."

"Yes." she nodded painfully.

"Then he's as good as dead, as those people in the text books." said Tai, as he stormed off.

"Tai wait!" begged Mimi. But it was too late. He was already gone. And there was no stopping him. "Don't hurt yourself." she said, as she slunk back into her house.

Tai drove over to the school, as fast as he could. Mr. Yuyama had availability after school, almost ever single day.

"Hey Tai?" said Noah. "Where were you? The coach was wondering where the captain when!" he said friendly.

"Noah. Do me a favor." said Tai briskly.

"Sure man. What?" he said.

"Help me kill a man."

"What? Tai man, are you okay?" said Noah looking at Tai. His eyes were set. Determined if you will.

"I'm fine. Yuyama won't be." he said seriously.

"What did the dude say?" he asked. "I mean, if he failed you or something, don't you think it's a little drastic to kill the man?" he asked worried.

"No." said Tai. His voice was like ice to Noah.

"What did the guy do man?" he asked.

"He killed me. And he hurt Mimi." he said, not going into much more detail.

"Who did the guy hurt Mimi?" he asked.

Tai didn't answer him. Instead, he asked another question. "What was that note all about in class one day? Pick up where we left off or something." he said, as he turned the corner.

Noah followed him like a lost puppy. "She's helping me out with voice lessons." he blushed slightly. "She told me not to tell anyone."

"Oh." he said simply, as he approached the history class room. He opened the door, and found Mr. Yuyama alone at his desk, correcting some tests.

The man looked up. "Well. Hello Taichi. Noah." he said friendly.

"Can I talk to you?" said Tai. His voice filled with loathing.

"Sure!" the teacher replied, not noticing. "About what?" Tai walked out the door, before the man asked the question.

Noah shrugged his shoulders at the guy, not knowing what else to do. Mr. Yuyama, walked out of the class, and was met by Tai's fist. The man stumbled back, and hit the lockers.

"What the hell was that for?" he demanded, angrily.

"You have some nerve!" said tai, punching him again. "I can't believe you'd do that to Mimi!" he screamed, as he kneed him in the chest.

"Tai!" Noah screamed. "You're hitting a teacher! Man! You can get expelled for that!"

Tai ignored what his friend was saying, and continued his assault. "I'm going to kill you!" he yelled.

Noah ran. He ran over to floor, which the principal's office was located. He barged in the room, in the middle of a meeting.

"What is the meaning of this?" he demanded angrily. Twelve other head turned and looked at the panting boy, obviously annoyed as well.

"It's Tai, Mr. Wong! He's fighting with Mr. Yuyama!" he explained hastily.

"What?" the principal asked, getting up, and following the boy, down to the second level.

"So. The little bitch told you?" he said throwing a punch. It connected with Tai's jaw. "And after I threatened to hurt yo. Such a shame." he said.

"I trusted you! I thought you were a good teacher!" said Tai, kicking him in the stomach. "If you have any idea how much I'm going to hurt you now, I'd start running very fast." he said.

"Good luck kid." he said tripping him. "Right now, it's my word against yours." he said, starting to strangle him. "And what person in their right minds will believe that I raped Mimi?" he said proudly, putting more pressure on Tai's neck.

He tried to push him off, but he was too heavy.

"This person will." said Mr. Wong. Mr. Yuyama turned and saw all the teachers in the school, staring at him. Some turned away, with disgusted looks in their eyes. The others scowled at him, shaking their heads.

"Mr. Wong!" he said trying to make up some sort of excuse.

"Save it. I don't want to hear your pitiful excuse." the principal said furiously. "You'll need it for the courts. Remember anything you say, can and will be used against you."

Within minutes, the police had arrived, and arrested the teacher. The paramedics had attended to Tai's wounds, and in no time at all, Mimi was there by his side.

"You're an idiot Tai." she said. "And that's one of the reasons I love you." she said leaning in, and kissing him.

"I'd do anything for you." he said, kissing back.

1 Month Later

"We the court find Mr. Jan Yuyama guilty of rape. He is sentenced five years in prison, and his teaching licence is here by voided." said on of the jury members.

Mimi sighed, as Tai hugged her. "He's going away for a long time." he said kissing her forehead.

"Thank you Tai." she said softly, holding onto him.

"For what?" he said.

"For not leaving me alone through this." she said bluntly.

"I wouldn't let you go through this alone. Ever." he said.
