Matt
was sitting on his bed, deep in thought. In one week, would be the first
anniversary, of him and Mimi getting together. He should be feeling happy, but
he felt guilty. He had a secret, that he hid from Mimi. "How do I tell her
this? She'll break up with me for sure! I don't want to lose her!"
proclaimed to no one. He flung himself backwards, and landed on his pillow. He
turned his head over, and looked at his clock. 10:03. "I need to clear my
head." he stood up and walked over to his closet. He rummaged around for a
little while, then found what he was looking for. 'Thank God, I didn't throw
these away!' he quickly dressed, and quietly snuck out of the house.
He
ran to the storage shed, and opened the lock. He walked inside, to see the
cause of his distress. A 1978 Jet Fire motorcycle. "Why the hell am I
doing this?" he asked himself, but he quickly brushed it aside, and got
on. He adjusted the mirror, and started the engine. The bike came to life. Matt
stepped on the gas peddle, and rode off.
He
had heard of this gang, that hung out at an abandoned shaft called The Slice.
10 minutes later, he found the shaft. Several bikers were cheering, for a
member named Whiplash. They broke out into whoops, as Whiplash crossed the
finish line. He smiled to himself. There was a huge Whiplash on the side of the
bikers helmet. He had a picture of a angel on his own helmet. That earned him
the name Archangel in his old gang. (Dragon was already taken, so they just
changed the first letter.) He rode through the gate., and stopped in front of a
small group of people.
"Hey."
he said cooly. "What's going down here?"
"The
biker with a phoenix helmet said "Whiplashs' back!"
"Who's
Whiplash?"
"Our
gang leader." said the one with a ball of fire on he side of his helmet.
"By the way, I'm Blaze, this is Phoenix and Fox."
"I'm
Archangel." said Matt, giving his old nic name.
"THE
Archangel? Archangel, as in, the leader of the Headstones! You gotta be
serious. You're like a legend around here! Is it true you flew a half pike with
a 360 spin?" exclaimed Fox.
Matt
smiled again. "So, I'm known around here!" he felt proud knowing her
was still remembered.
"Won't
Pix be happy you're her. Pix hasn't been her for a long time. The group sort of
lost it's edge. We used to be feared. Nobody could beat Pix!
"Now
that Pix's back, she can get a decent race. She just beat Skull, from..."
started Phoenix.
"My
group." finished Matt. "He was my second best biker. This Whiplash
must be a great rider!"
"The
most skilled biker in Japan. Pix is Regional champ, 6 years running!" said
Blaze.
"Damn!
That's pretty good. Can I get a race?" asked Matt. The adrenaline was
pumping through his veins. He hadn't felt like this in years. Not since he
stopped racing.
"I'll
see what I can do." said Lily running off. Matt saw Fox walk over to
Whiplash and point at him. Whiplash looked at Matt.
Fox
came running, several seconds later. "Pive sawed wef..." Fox was
panting.
'I
guess you shouldn't run with all your gear on.' thought Matt. Fox took off the
heavy helmet. "You're a girl!" blurted out Matt.
Fox
looked at him. "No shit Sherlock!" she said smiling. She passed her
hand over her short black hair. She had green eyes, and was wearing black
eyeliner and lipstick.
'She
cute.' thought Matt.
"Don't
worry. Phoenix and Blaze are guys!"
As
if on cue, they took off their helmets. "My real name's Bradley."
said Phoenix. He reached out to shake hands. A piece of his brown hair fell in
front of his blue eyes.
"Mine's
Kevin." said Blaze. He was bald, and had a tattoo of a fire on his scalp.
"Last
but not least, I'm Ali." said Fox
Matt
took off his helmet. "I'm Matt."
"Not
only is he a legendary biker, he's also a hunk!" said Ali. "How bout
you and me fly this joint, and get a few drinks at the bar?"
"Sorry."
Matt smiled. "I'm taken."
"Damn.
I guess you two will have to do." she giggled.
"Hey.
We resent that." said Bradley.
"Oh,
by the way, Pix says yes to the race. Good luck. You'll need it." said
Ali.
"Thanks."
said Matt. He put his helmet back on, and rode over to where Whiplash was. He
was stopped by a tall, muscular man.
"The
rules are simple. It's an around the field, half slide race. The loser has to
fork over 10 bucks." he grumbled. "I don't know why Pix doesn't ask
for more cash." said a familiar voice.
"Okay."
replied Matt. "Hey. Have we met before? You voice is really familiar.
"Doubt
it. I've never met Archangel before." he said as he walked off. Whiplash
was waiting for him at the starting line. He rode over, and took his place. A
light had flashed. Matt remembered this all to well.
'Only
2 more lights.' the second flashed. He gunned the motor. The third flashed. He
rode off. Whiplash was a little ahead of him, but he quickly caught up.
Suddenly, Whiplash made a sharp right hand turn. 'A short cut!' his mind told
him. He pursued the biker, with amazing speed. They came to this small bridge.
They crossed it at the same time, only to be met with a long, vertical drop.
They rode off the ledge, and soared majestically through the air.
'So.
This is what I came back too.' Matt scolded himself. 'What happens if I get
hurt? I'll have to tell Mimi the truth, and then she'll break up with me.' he
landed with a thud. He promptly regained his balance and chased after his
competitor. 'He's good! Maybe, a little too good.' thought Matt.
Whiplash
stopped, and began to turn back, signaling Matt. He didn't understand what was
happening, until he saw a group of bikers begin to circle them. They were
trapped.
The
groups leader got off his bike, and walked over to Whiplash. "So. It's
true. You're back." he said. The other members were cheering "Drake.
Drake. Drake."
Drake
lifted the visor of his helmet. "Join us again Pix. The group got really
boring, when you left." a smile appeared on his lips. "Please. For
me."
Whiplash
mumbled something Matt couldn't completely understand. He made out a 'never'
and an, 'I'd rather die.'
"Fine.
Have it your way. I didn't want to hurt you, but you leave me no other choice.
Boys!" he whistled. The whole gang revved up their motors, and started to
circle them.
Whiplash
signaled Matt to follow. Whiplash bulldozed through 2 of the bikers, and
started toward the street. They cut through allies and
jumped small fences.
'Wow!
Whiplash is a really good at this.' thought Matt. There was another small
gorge. If they jumped it they would be close to The Slice. Out of the corner of
his mirror, Matt saw Drake gaining on them. He pulled a chain off his bike, and
threw it at Whiplash.
"Whiplash
look out!" he yelled. It was too late. The chain got caught in the tires,
and the biker went flying. Matt rushed over. Whiplash quickly got up, pulled
the chain out of the wheel, and continued riding. 'Stamina too!' thought Matt.
He remembered having a wipe out like that. He was in the hospital for 2 days.
He broke his leg and cracked 5 of his ribs. They whizzed by the opening gate,
and entered their sanctuary.
"Pix
won! Pix won!" cried out a biker. Everyone cheered. Whiplash cut the
celebration short by pointing to the biker group that was gaining.
"Hey
Drake! You can't come in here!" yelled Bradley. "You were banned!
Respect the deal."
Drake
shook his head and turned back. The group followed.
"Stupid
ass. Can't cope I guess." said Ali. She walked toward Matt. "Pix beat
you. I told you it wouldn't be easy."
"Yeah.
I'm worried about him. He had a massive wipe out. He might be hurt!" said
Matt.
Ali
giggled."There's no way he can be hurt. But I'll check. By the way. Does
your girlfriend know about your, um, extracurricular activities?" Matt
shook his head.
"No.
I'm scared to tell her. I'm in love with her, and can't stand to lose
her."
"Honesty
is the best policy." said Ali.
"Hey,
do I get to see Whiplash?" asked Matt.
"When
you race a second time, Pix takes off the helmet."
"Okay.
Thanks. Oh yeah!" he shoved his hand inside his pocket, and came out with
a wrinkled 10 dollar bill. "Give this to Whiplash. It's his."
"No
it isn't." said Ali under her breath.
Matt
got home at 5:00. He was so tired. He climbed through his open window, and
crawled into bed. As soon as his head hit the pillow, he fell asleep, only to
be woken by his alarm 3 hours later. His eyes sprung open.
"God.
I'm late!" he quickly got up and dressed. He ran to the kitchen and
grabbed an Eggo. He was supposed to meet Mimi in 30 minutes. He dashed over to
her house. He was gasping for air, as he knocked on her door. Her mom answered.
"Hello
Mrs. Tachikawa. Is Mimi ready?"
"WHERE
IS SHE?" yelled Mimi's mom.
"What
are you talking about?" asked a puzzled Matt.
"Don't
give me that I have no clue what you're talking about speech! Where is she? Did
she spend the night at your house?"
Matt
stood in shock. Mimi's mom just stared at him with an icy glare.
"I'll
take your silence as a yes. So. Your screwing around with my daughter,
huh?"
Matt
regained his ability to talk."No." he blurted out. "Mimi and I
aren't sleeping together!" he felt really uncomfortable. He was standing
out in the hall, and some people started to stare.
"Oh,
I'm sorry Matt." said Mimi's mom. "Please come in." Matt walked
into the house. "I'm so sorry. I don't know what cane over me. It's just,
Mimi didn't come home last night, and you hear about all these teen pregnancies
on the news... I don't know how to male it up to you." her eyes swelled
with tears. Just then the phone rang. "Excuse me Matt." she got up
and answered the phone. "Hello. Tachikawa residence."
'Where
could Mimi be?' he thought. 'God, could an evil Digimon have kidnaped her? Had
she been just kidnaped?' his thoughts were cut short by Mimi's mom's cries.
"She
was in an accident! What happened!" she cried. "I'll be right
there!" she dropped the phone, and grabbed her car keys.
"I'm
coming with you!" exclaimed Matt.
"No.
It's okay. You don't have to go." said Mrs. Tachikawa.
"Listen
Mrs. I love your daughter. I'm going."
She
didn't have any time to argue with Matt, so she let him come. 7 minutes later,
they pulled into the hospital. They dashed out of the car and ran to the front
desk.
"Mimi
Tachikawa. Where is she?" asked her mom.
"Room
574." replied the nurse. "Oh. That was the girl that had the car
accident. Bad injuries."
Matt
couldn't hear this. He ran over to the elevator, and pushed the up button. He
seem to be waiting forever. "Screw this." he ran over to the stairs,
and took them 3 at a time. He made it to Mimi's room. "Mimi! Are you
alright!" he asked, as he kissed her.
"Mmph."
she broke away from his kiss. "I'm alright. I broke 3 of my ribs and they
had to take out one of punctured kidneys." she said.
"How
did this happen? Who did this to you?" he asked angrily.
"Me.
I was being careless, and collided with a person riding a bike." she sort
of giggled. "Pretty dumb huh?"
"Not
at all. I'm just glad you're okay." he laughed. "Your mom thought you
were at my place last night. That's why you didn't come home."
"Paranoid
parent." Mimi smiled.
"You
know what I love about you?" asked Matt.
"What."
replied Mimi.
"Your
ability to make a horrible situation, seem like nothing." he bent down and
kissed her. She wrapped her arms around his neck. It seemed like her hands
belonged there. Their lips seemed like they were only met for each other. Like
two pieces of a jig saw puzzle. Everything about them seemed to fit perfectly.
She pulled him a little closer. He gently slid his tongue into her mouth, and
climbed onto the bed to lye down near her. He had to be careful not lye on any
of the tubes that were running, thought her arm.
"I
hate seeing you like this." he muttered through his parted lips.
"Don't
worry about me. I'm as right as rain..." she found it extremely hard, to
talk with you tongue in someone else's mouth.
"I
promise, from now on, I'll always watch over you." he loved it when she
kissed him. Her lips always tasted like her fruit lip balms, but now, it felt
so natural. 'I could stay like this forever.' he concluded.
"Uhh
herm." the two opened their eyes, not breaking away from the kiss. Matt's
eyes flew open, and he fell off the bed, landing on his back. He peaked up.
"Hi
mom! Isn't you shift in 3 hours?" he asked nervously.
"It
is. I'm covering for Mary. Just what do you think you're doing Matt?" she
asked.
"I
was, uh. I was..."
She
smiled. "I'm not blind. I was young once too." she smiled. "Hi!
I'm Patsy. Matt's mom."
"Nice
to meet you." said Mimi. "I'm Mimi. Matt's girlfriend."
"Matt.
You didn't tell me you had a girlfriend! And judging by the way your tongue was
shoved down her throat, I'd say, you've been dating a while."
Mimi
blushed a little. "In 6 days, it'll be a year."
"A
year! Wow, honey. You've never kept a relationship longer than a week!"
she turned and looked at Mimi. "You must be very special, if my son's been
with you all this time!"
"She
is." replied Matt.
"That's
ni..." she was interrupted by a beep.
"Will
Nurse Takaishi, please report to the front desk. Thank you."
"Gotta
go. Duty calls. Hey Mimi. I want you to have dinner at my house tonight. Is 7
okay? Please say you can make it."
"Sure!"
replied Mimi. There was a hint of uneasiness in her voice.
"No!"
cried out Matt. Tonight he was going to meet Whiplash. He wanted to find out
who this mysterious rider was! "Mom. Mimi's just been in a horrible
accident. She needs to stay here and rest." 'Nice save genius.'
"Oh.
Alright. Maybe some other time." She left the room.
"Now.
Where were we?" asked Matt. He bent down to kiss her. Just as their lips
brushed, Mimi's mom walked in.
"Mimi!
Are you okay!" she was very worried.
Matt
groaned. "Will we every get some privacy?" he whispered in Mimi's
ear.
"I
don't think a hospital is the most private place in the world." she
whispered back.
"True.
I have to go. I'm supposed to pick T.K up. I'll be back later. I'll bring
dinner." he smiled and kissed the top of her nose.
"See
you tonight." said Mimi. She pulled him into a kiss.
"Honey.
I really need to go." said Matt. He didn't want to go, but he had to get
T.K.
"Fine.
I'll be waiting for you." she gave him a goodbye kiss, and he walked away.
A girl bumped into him on the way out.
"Sorry."
he said. He looked at her. "Do I know you?"
"I
have one of those faces." replied the dark haired girl. Matt just shrugged
and walked off.
"Mrs.
Tachikawa, the Nurse said you need to go to the front desk to fill out some
papers."
"Thank's
Alex." said Mimi's mom.
"No
problem." she waited till Mrs. Tachikawa was out of sight. She closed the
door. "He's nice Mimi."
"Thanks
Alex. It means a lot to me, that you like him."
"Mimi,
something has been bothering me."
"What
is it?"
She
hesitated a little. She finally blurted out "Are you sleeping with
him?"
"Alex!
How could you ask me a question like that?" Mimi exclaimed.
"I
met Jake on the way up. He told me he saw you too kissing. On this bed!"
"Alex,
it's not what you think. I love Matt. But I'm not sleeping with him! Even
thought every muscle in my body tells me I should be. You've gotta believe
me!"
"I
don't know if I can. A few years ago, you didn't even care if the guys had
names! How many times did I walk in on you with a different person? How many
times did I catch you with Bren! Everyone knew he was just using you!"
"He
was a mistake! I said I would never do anything like that again! Matt's
different. He's nothing like Bren!"
"How!
In or out of the bed Mimi? You used to tell me, sex meant nothing to you! It
was just something you did when you were bored! How long as it been since you
stopped? 5 years, 6 years?"
"Stop
it Alex! I've changed! I really have!" Mimi shouted.
"Really.
If you've changed, why were at Jake's last night?"
"I
went there to blow off steam! I have 6 days to tell the one guy I care about,
my past! Alex, I can't lose him; he's my world..." she began to cry. Alex
went over and hugged her friend.
"I
know he feels the same." she said reassuringly. "Mimi, watch your
back. I don't want Matt to turn into another Bren. Get past his good looks, and
smile. Find the real him, and you have my blessings."
"Thanks.
Now I know why you're my best friend."
"Get
better! We need you. Word is, Bren wants you; bad! He's on the war path!"
Mimi
laughed. "When you got it, you got it." both girls laughed out loud.
"I'm
thankful Jake remembered where you live. If not, you would be stuck in those
clothes." she said pointing at a bag."
"Give
him a kiss for me. I need some sleep."
"I'll
leave you then. Bye Mimi."
"Oh,
by the way. You really should get a better wig, Ali."
Matt
had just finished putting the final touch on his, get well soon dinner, when
the phone rang. "Dad! Dad can you get that?"
"Can't
son! My hands are full of grease." he was fixing the motor of his
computer.
"Fine!
I'll get it!" said Matt. He wiped his hands, and went to got the phone.
"Hell.."
"Is
that you Archangel." it was Kevin.
"Yeah.
It's me." Matt began to lower his voce. If his dad found out he was
ridding again, he'd be locked in his room till he was 50!
"Listen.
Pix said you can ride again. Pix also said you're a great rider, and should
join the group!" he said excitedly. "You can be one of us!"
"That's
great!" cried Matt. He mentally slapped himself. 'Shut up man.'
"Tonight
at 10. It's your initiation. Don't be late." with that he hung up.
'Okay.
I have 3 hours to spend with Mimi, then get home, change and be at The Slice
with half hour to practice.' he smiled at his plan. He quickly packed his
clothes, and his them in the shed. He then grabbed his dinner, and ran to the
hospital.
"Matt,
this is delicious!" exclaimed Mimi.
"It
was inspired by you." he said cutely.
"Thank
you!" she said hugging him.
"Hey!
Is that all I get for slaving over a hot oven for 2 hours! A hug!"
"No,
you also get this." she kissed him. He pulled away. "What's
wrong?" asked Mimi. She was worried.
"Absolutely
nothing!" he smiled. "I just bit my tongue."
"Hey!
That's my job!" she smirked.
Matt
grinned. "How on Earth did I end up with a girl as great as you!" he
leaned in the kiss her. Mimi pulled back. Her eyes were steaming with tears.
"What's wrong?" asked Matt. "Did you hurt yourself? Should I get
the Nurse?"
Mimi
smiled. "I don't know how I ended up with you. Matt, there's so much you
don't know about me. I'm worried that if I tell you, you'll hate me..."
her voice trailed off, because she stated to cry.
"Mimi,
I love you. You can tell me anything."
"I
can't. I can't lose you."
"Mimi,
don't think that. Just tell me." he said calmly. He took her in his arms
and pulled her close. "I love you." he said kissing her. Something
was different. There was an uneasy feeling, in the back of Matt's mind. He
couldn't quite place it, but he knew it meant trouble.
Matt
was ridding to The Slice. He didn't want to leave Mimi, but visiting hours were
over. He knew she needed her rest, and he needed to get to Whiplash, so he
could get into the group. 'I know it'll take my mind off things. I need to figure
out a way to tell Mimi.'
Several
minutes later, he pulled into the gate. He saw Fox, Blaze, and Phoenix. He rode
over to where they were sitting.
"Hey
stranger!" exclaimed Bradley. "Tonight's your big night! You get in
here, and everything you want, is your's. Hot babes, free booze, and all the
hits you can take!"
Matt
was trying to remember what 'hits' were. 'Drugs.' he thought. "That's
great, but I have the hottest girl in all of Japan." he explained.
"I've been sober for 5 years now, and I don't do drugs any more. 1 year of
juvie, really opens your eyes!"
"You
were sent to juvie, for doing drugs! Damn! They'll cart you off for anything
now a days!" said Kevin.
"I
wasn't carted off for drugs." Matt squeezed his eyes shut, trying to block
out the horrible memory. "It was for attempted murder."
"WHAT!"
screamed Ali! "You almost killed someone! Who?" she was disgusted,
but fascinated all in the same time.
"One
night, I got really high." he began. His throat was dry. "I walked
into my house. My little brother was waiting for me. He kept asking if I was
okay. Believe me, when you're on Angle Dust, a whisper seems like a drum! I
grabbed my knife, and pushed it to his throat, telling him, I'd kill him if he
said another word. Thankfully my dad was awake, and stopped me."
"Wow!
Is your bro okay?" asked Bradley.
"Yeah,
no thanks to me. My parents both agreed some time in juvie would 'fix'
me."
"Matt,
I'm sorry." said Ali. "Guys, could we have a little time to
ourselves?"
"Sure.
Whatever." said Kevin. Bradley and him walked over to a guy with a cooler.
They opened it, and grabbed 2 beers.
"That's
what you can't tell your girlfriend? You're an ex druggie, alcoholic, attempted
murderer!" she said angrily.
"Yeah.
She'll think I'm a monster!"
"Don't
worry. I'm sure she'll understand." she smiled. "She just will, if
she loves you. Here we are going on about your love life. I should be telling
you about the initiation. You have to pull 2 loops, and one 180 sow cow, on the
ramp. Then you have to jump the gorge over there, and land on your bike. You
get 2 tries at that. If Pix likes your style, you're in! Good luck." she
began to walk away. "Hey Matt!"
"Yeah."
he said turning.
"I
have to tell Brad, something, but I don't know how he will react."
"Well
what is it?"
"This
is more of a role switching game. Pretend you're Brad, and I'm your
girlfriend."
"Okay.
Still, what is it?"
"Here
goes. How would you reach, if I told you I've slept with lots of guys?"
"I'm Brad right?" asked Matt.
"Yeah,
now tell me how you would react."
"I
really don't know how Brad would react, but I know, if my girlfriend told me
she's slept with other guys, I'd go crazy! I can't even stand the thought of
other guys touching her! I have to go. They're beckoning me." he said
smiling. He rode off.
"Mimi's
screwed." she whispered.
After
what seemed like forever, Matt had completed his course. He waited for Whiplash
to decide. Members came up to congratulate him. Some minutes later, a man they
called Saffron, stood up. "Archangel. Show yourself." Matt stepped
forward. "Whiplash has made the decision, to welcome you to the group.
Congrats!"
Everyone
whooped and cheered. Matt was proud of himself. He hadn't ridden for over 6
years, but he wasn't rusty!
"Yeah!
You're one of us!" shouted Kevin. "Let's introduce you to the
guys!" after half an hour, Matt could honestly say he remembered all their
names. Saffron, was a guy named Jake, and was Whiplashs right hand man.
"Hey
guys," asked Matt. "When do I get to meet Whiplash?"
"Right
now man." said Brad. He handed Matt his beer, and ran over grabbing
Whiplashs shoulder. "Archangel, meet Pix."
Whiplash
slowly lifted the helmet. Matt saw traces of brow hair. Whiplashs hair fell out
of the helmet. It was a little longer than shoulder length. Matt felt an tense
pulling in his stomach. 'God, please don't let it be. Any other person in the
world, just not this one!' his mind screamed out. Once Whiplash had the helmet
completely off, Matt couldn't move. He dropped Brad's beer, and his hand went
limp.
"Mimi..."
he muttered.
"Hey,
duddy, you okay?" she asked.
Matt's
whole body froze. His instincts took over. He whipped off his helmet.
"Matt..."
said Mimi.
"You
guys know each other?" said Brad.
"This
is the girlfriend I keep telling you about." said Matt. He was staring at
Mimi.
"You
mean, you've been dating Pix, and you didn't know she was the leader of this
group. That's deep." said Kevin.
"Shut
up you two!" screamed Ali. "Give them some privacy!"
"Sure.
You have tons to talk about!" snickered Brad. They walked away leaving
Matt and Mimi to talk.
Mimi
finally spoke up. "Congratulations on getting in. You're a really good
rider."
"Thanks..."said
Matt. "Who the hell am I kidding, Mimi you're amazing! How come you never
told me about your ability to ride!"
"How
come you never told me you were Archangel? You were my idle! I started to ride
because of you!"
"Really?"
asked Matt. There was this electricity running through his veins. His
girlfriend, could ride!
"Yeah!"
she said smiling.
He
had to tell her now. "Mimi. I have to tell you something."
"What
is it?" Matt lead her over to a bench, and began telling her, his story.
He braced himself for a slap, an I hate you, or a we're over.
For
the first time in 17 years, Mimi was speechless. "Matt, I'm so sorry. I
know how you feel. I used to do the same things."
Matt
looked up and smiled "I guess this means we have even more in
common!"
"I
guess it does." she said.
Matt
couldn't hold in his excitement anymore! He reached out and pulled her into a long
kiss. The whole world seemed to spin around them. They began to tell each other
everything.
"I'm
so glad I told you. Here I was, thinking you wouldn't understand!"
"Me
too." said Mimi. 'I wish you could understand.' She left out the part
about her sleeping around, because she felt he should find out a little later.
"We
tell each other everything from now on, okay!" he said a thrilled Matt.
"Okay."
swallowed Mimi. She felt horrible, but she couldn't tell him now. 'Here he is,
poring his heart out to me, thinking he's a monster, when I'm the only monster
here. I can't even tell him about Drake, when he told me about T.K!' she looked
up into Matt's beaming sapphire eyes. Her heart broke into a million pieces.
'Why did I fall for the most caring, and trusting guy, in the whole world.' her
eyes swelled with tears.
"Don't
cry Mimi. Everything will be perfect from now on. I feel as if a huge weight
has been lifted from my shoulders!"
'Funny.'
she thought. 'I feel as if a million tons were added.' she needed to tell him.
She would feel guilty every time she stared into his eyes. Her heart would
break every time he kissed her. "Matt. I have to..."
"God,
I've never felt so alive!" he said. "What were you going to
say?"
"Nothing."
she sighed. He grinned, and kissed her passionately on the lips.
The
next morning, Matt woke up, with a sharp pain in his side. "Ow" he
moaned. He was sitting in the hospital. He looked up to find Mimi, lying
asleep. 'It was all a dream' he thought. He winced in pain, but not from his
side, but his heart flipping. He quickly located the source of his pain. The
side of the chain had a dulled nail sticking out of it. Mimi woke up.
"Hey.
Did you spend the whole night here. I thought you said you were tired."
she stated.
"I
guess I wasn't." he smiled at her. She started to laugh. "What's so
funny?"
Mimi
took a deep breath. "I bet you think last night was a dream. Well, it
wasn't." she said kissing him. "Now, get out of the room. I have to
change." she got out of the bed, and shooed him out the door. 50 seconds
later, she came out, dressed in a pale pink tank top, that was 2 inches above
her belly button, and black jeans. She pulled her hair back into a pony tail,
and had knee and elbow pads on. A skateboard was in her left hand, and her
Whiplash helmet in the other.
"Hey
beautiful! You look amazing. As usual." said Matt.
"Common,
let's get going!" she said.
"To
where?" asked Matt jokingly.
"To
the ramp! I want to get a few hours of boarding in, before I go to the movies
with Sora and Ali." she decided this was a good time to tell him. Not like
there was ever a good time to tell your boyfriend, you've probably slept with
half his old bike gang. "Matt..."
"Okay.
The park is a few minutes away from my house. Let me go change, get my gear,
and I'll meet you there."
'Damn!
Will I ever get to tell him?' "Deal! I'll be waiting." she blew him a
kiss and hopped on her skateboard. Matt notices she had a small tattoo, of a
fairy on her back. He smiled to himself, and walked home. 'She boards too.
She'll never cease to amaze me!'
Matt
met up with Mimi at the park. Several spectators had gathered. They were all
amazed a girl could do this many stunts. She just came off a dark slide when
she noticed Matt. He had a huge grin on his face. When she jumped off her
board, everyone walked away.
"You
were amazing!" he said pulling her toward him. "You really know how
to dish it out."
"These
20 year old guys kept asking me foe advice! I though I should have charged them
after a while!" she giggled
"That's
my girl. Let me get this stuff on, and I'll be right with you." he walked
over to a bench, and started to put on his equipment.
Mimi
started to climb the ramp. She slid down gracefully, and went into a 360 turn.
Her hair was flying everywhere! Two boys standing near a water fountain were in
an intense conversation.
The
taller of the two spoke up. "Check it out Greg. Look at her! I have no
idea why I dropped her! Those curves, those lips... I want her back!"
"Bren,
what are you going to do? Your last attempt didn't exactly motivate her to join
us." said the shorter one. He passed a hand through his short blonde hair.
He had brown eyes, and a scar down his cheek. Both of the boys were very
muscular.
"I
don't care if I have to kill. She'll come back to me!" said Bren. He took
off his sunglasses, revealing grey eyes. He had high cheekbones, and auburn
colored hair. "How stupid am I! I used to get a piece of that every
night!" he said pointing at Mimi. He saw Matt walk over, and kiss her.
Greg
snickered. "I guess he's getting a piece of that every night now!"
"Shut
up man!" snapped Bren. "He's the reason she won't come back to
me." his eyes narrowed. "I have to get rid of him. I need to become
his friend, " he walked away, leaving Greg to watch Mimi.
"Wait
up Drake!" he cried out.
"Okay.
I gotta go now. See you at The Slice." Mimi jumped off the ramp, and
skated away.
"I
better practice a little more." he said to no one in particular.
"Hey!"
Matt turned around. He was staring at an older boy. "Do you know that
girl?"
Matt
grinned. "Yeah. You could say that."
"She's
really good." said Bren.
"Don't
I know it!" exclaimed Matt..
"Is
she, by any chance, Whiplash?" he asked.
"She
is. How did you know?" replied Matt.
"I
used to ride with her." Bren smiled to himself. "Is she still dating
Drake? They were the couple of the millennium!"
Matt
felt a little agitated. "No. Now she's dating me."
"What
happened to them? Did they break up or something?"
"I
don't know." said Matt.
"Oh,
sorry dude. I'm Brandon."
"Matt."
"So
Matt, do you board?"
"They
didn't call me Archangel for nothing!"
"You're
Archangel!" cried Bren. 'Now I know why she's going with him. He's a
legend!' "Cool! I never thought I'd meet Archangel!" the two boys
began to chat. An hour later, Matt thought he made a new friend. An hour later,
Bren knew how to wreck Matt's relationship with Mimi.
"Hey.
I gotta go. My mom keeps really close tabs on me! See ya tomorrow!" said
Bren.
'Cool
guy.' thought Matt.
'Sucker.'
thought Bren.
That
night, Matt decided to go to The Slice, a little earlier. On is way there, he
met Bren.
"Hey
Bren! What are doing here?" he asked.
"This
is my group!" he replied. His helmet was in his hand.
"So.
What do they call you?" Matt asked.
"Lucky."
he replied easily. He showed him the picture of a leprechaun, on the side of
his helmet.
"Hey!
Do you want to come with me? I know a great place to hang out."
"Sure.
Come on Vulcan." he said. Greg rode next to him. In an instant, they were
gone.
"Why
did Drake take my helmet?" asked a group member, holding out a helmet with
a duck on the side.
"He's
getting Whiplash back." said another member.
"Here
we are!" exclaimed Matt.
"Cool
digs." said Greg.
"You
two wait here." said Matt. When he was far away, Bren spoke up.
"Do
you know your part?"
"Yep!
Pix is as good as yours." replied Greg grinning.
Matt
came back. "Come meet the gang." Matt introduced them to Fox, Blaze,
and Phoenix. Bren did his best to mask his voice. When Fox, Blaze, and Phoenix
left, Bren put his plan into action.
"Hey
Brad, did Lucky seem familiar to you?"
"Sorry,
babe, I wasn't paying attention. Your eyes kept distracting me." he smiled
at her.
She
reached over and kissed him. "Your laziness, is made up by your
charm."
"So
Matt," asked Vulcan. "How long have you and Pix been going out?"
"Tomorrow,
it'll be a year!" said Matt proudly.
"Wow!
A whole year. So. Have you slept with her yet?"
The
color drained from Matt's face. "No. Why do you ask?"
"It's
just, Pix hasn't held out this long before."
"What
do you mean by held out?" asked Matt. His stomach was doing flips. He
didn't like where this conversation was heading.
"Well,
Pix... how do I say this... well, lets just say, Pix never got much sleep.
You
know what I mean?" he said.
"No,
I don't." replied Matt. He was about to be sick.
"Well,
she..." began Vulcan
"She
slept around." said Bren. "Her and Drake used to sleep together a
lot."
Matt's
legs buckled in under him. He thought he was going to faint. "I remember
Drake bragging about them spending two whole days in bed together! He says she
preforms great under pressure! We all knew he meant she preforms well
underneath!" the two began to laugh. Matt's face went white. His knees
started to shake. Bren looked at Matt, and stopped laughing. "Oh man. You
didn't know! I'm so sorry." he said as sincerely as possible.
Reality
hit him. "Don't worry about it! You probably have another Whiplash! My
girlfriend would have told me!" he said, plastering on a fake smile.
"Are
you sure he didn't sound familiar?" asked Ali.
"Positive!"
said Brad, kissing her neck. All of a sudden, he stopped. "Shit!" he
mumbled.
"What's
wrong?" asked Ali, kissing his lips.
"Ali,
sorry to break up the moment, but Lucky, isn't Lucky. It's Drake!"
"No.
I'm pretty sure that, that's the Whiplash he was talking about!" said
Bren. He was about to explode with laughter. 'This guys whole world is caving
in under him, and nobody can help him. Time for faze 2.'
"It's
impossible!" said an aggravated Matt. He wanted him to stop talking.
"Drake,
what the hell are you doing here?" screamed Ali.
"Damn.
I've been found out." Bren said sarcastically.
"You're
Drake." said Matt gasping for air.
"What
did you tell him?" demanded Ali.
"Only
what Mimi, didn't." he replied.
"I
don't believe him!" exclaimed Matt. "Please Ali, tell me he's
lying!"
"Tell
me, does your girlfriend have a tattoo on her back?"
"Yeah."
squeaked Matt. He had a flashback to when he saw Mimi skating off.
"Is
it a little fairy?" he said. He was proud of himself. His plan was
working. Bren remembered tracing that tattoo a million times with his lips. Her
skin was so soft, and her hair always smelled like cinnamon.
"So
you weren't lying." said Matt in shock.
"Fraid
not." he said smiling.
"Where's
Mimi?" demanded Matt.
"Matt
listen..." Ali started.
"Where
the hell is she!" he yelled.
Ali
sighed. "She's at home. Her parents just left for Europe." Matt
turned around, and rode off to Mimi's house.
"Okay.
You have to tell him tonight Mimi." she was giving herself, a private pep
talk. She wanted to tell Matt sooner, but for some reason, he kept cutting her
off. She was pacing in her room. "Oh, I wish Sora was here! She would know
what to do! Why did she have to go to that stupid soccer tournament!" she
slumped down on her bed. Just them she heard a knock on the door. She got up
and answered it to find Matt. "Hey!" she said happily. She went over
and kissed him. He pushed her away, and looked at her with anger in his eyes.
"How
could you?" he asked.
"How
could I what?" she asked.
"Don't
play dumb with me. Why didn't you tell me?"
"Matt,
you're scaring me! What's going on?"
He
grabbed her arms, and pushed her into the room. "You wanna know what's
going on?" he threw her on the couch. "I just found out about you and
Bren!"
"Oh
God no..." whispered Mimi.
"Just
when you planning on telling me?" he said. Tears were forming in the
corners of his eyes. "I trusted you to tell me the truth. When did you
plan to come clean?"
"I
tried to tell you. I tried so many times. But you kept interrupting me!"
she sobbed.
"Don't
you dare try to shift this on me!" he yelled.
"I'm
not!" she said through tears.
"Tell
me. How many times did you sleep with him?" he said.
"More
than enough." she whimpered. "Matt, I haven't seen Bren in over 5
years. He was the biggest mistake of my life!"
"Did
you love him?"
"Yes.
I did love him, but that was a long time ago!"
"Were
you cheating on me, with him?" he asked coldly.
"God
no. Matt, I have been completely faithful to you. How could you ask such a
question?"
"How
many guys have you bedded?"
"What
kind of a question is that?" she demanded.
Matt
ran over to her, and grabbed her neck. He pushed her against the closest wall.
"I said how many guys have you bedded!"
"Matt,
you're chocking me!" she was gasping for breath. He dropped her. She fell
to the ground, gasping for air.
"What
am I doing?" he said backing away from Mimi. He looked up at her. "I
don't want to know. I thought I knew you."
"You
do. It's still me! Matt, what happened all those years ago, was a mistake. If I
could, I would erase them!"
"But
you can't." he said. "I can't be around you anymore. Every time I
think of you, I'm reminded of you sleeping with someone else; and I can't help
but wish, that one of those guys was me. I really loved you, but I'm
glad I got out before I was another notch on your belt." with that he
walked away, slamming the door.
Mimi
cried. It was over. He was gone. The one guy she ever loved, was gone. She
couldn't stay in the house any longer. She ran over, grabbed her coat, and
walked out the door.
Mimi
found herself walking around town. After she realized where she was, she walked
into the closest coffee shop. She sat in a booth, and started to cry. A
familiar hand was placed on her shoulder.
"Hey.
What's wrong Mimi?"
"My
boyfriend just broke up with me." she said. "He found out about us,
and went ballistic."
"Well,
if he broke up with you, for something you did a long time ago, then he never
really deserved you." said Bren. He knew Mimi would go to the coffee shop.
It's where she went when she wanted to think. He mentally cheered. He knew Matt
couldn't handle Mimi's notorious past.
"Thanks
Bren. It means a lot to me, that your here." she smiled weakly.
"Common.
Come over to my place. You can clean yourself up, and tell me what happened. I
know I always feel better when I talk to someone."
"Sure.
Why not? I have nothing to lose." she stood up, and walked over to his
motorcycle. She hopped on the backseat, and put on the helmet. They rode over
to Bren's apartment. He guided her inside, and pointed to a chair. She smiled
to herself.
"Your
place hasn't changed a bit!" she said. The only place Mimi had ever really
seen was his bedroom, but she still knew the place, like the back of her hand.
"Thank's.
I try to keep my place tidy." he said smiling.
"Really!"
said Mimi. She looked him straight in the eye. "Where'd you hide the pizza
boxes?"
"Under
the bed! I usually stuff my junk in the closet, but for some reason, it won't
shut anymore"
Mimi
laughed. "Remember the time your mom decided to pay you a surprise visit?
We shoved things everywhere! I swear the door was going to bust open!"
they laughed together.
"My
mom always liked you. She keeps asking how you are. She doesn't like the fact we
broke up." he passed his fingers through her hair. "Neither do
I."
"We
can't. It didn't work out between us."
"I
know, but I keep asking myself, what could have happened if we stayed together?
We were so happy Mimi. I still don't know why we broke up!"
"I
can't do this right now. Can I lye down?" she asked.
"Of
course. Stay the night if you want." he said.
"Thank
you Bren. You've been an angle." she kissed his forehead.
Matt
rode over to The Slice. He jumped off his bike, and ran over to where Ali was
standing. "Where does Bren live?" he demanded.
"Matt,
what's this about?" she asked.
"Don't
screw around with me! Just tell me where he lives, and I'll go."
Ali
saw no way out of this situation. "What are you going to do Matt?"
"Before
or after I beat the crap out of him?"
Ali
sighed. "The apartment building on Sinjouki. Number 13 on the 5th
floor."
she
regretted telling him. "Matt, are you bleeding?" she asked.
Matt
looked down at his arm, to see a huge gash. It was really bleeding. He must
have gotten it, when he was fleeing from Mimi's. "I'll be fine." he
turned around, and clutched his head. He felt so lite headed. Then the world
span around him, and he passed out.
Matt
woke up to find a thick bandage, wrapped tightly around his arm. He looked at
his watch. 6:00. 'I have to get to Bren's place.' he thought. He had made up
his mind. 'He ruined my relationship with Mimi, and now, he's gonna pay.' he
walked out of the small room, and rode off to exact his revenge on Bren.
'This
is so perfect!' thought Bren. 'Mimi slept in my bed last night. Soon, she'll be
sleeping with me again.' he stepped into his room, to find Mimi quietly
resting. He slid next to her. Mimi was dreaming about Matt. In her dream, she'd
never met Bren, and they were still a happy couple. Bren scooted over closer,
and kissed her neck. Mimi rolled over with a huge smile on her face.
"Morning." before she could open her eyes, Bren covered them and
kissed her passionately on the lips. Mimi, (thinking it was Matt) kissed back.
She wrapped her arms around his neck. Bren rolled on top of her, pinning her
down.
'This
doesn't feel right.' thought Mimi. Reality crept up, and hit her. She broke off
the kiss. "You pig!" she yelled, pushing him off her. She stood up,
and made a bee line for the front door.
"Mimi
wait!" yelled Bren.
"No!
That's the reason we broke up! You kept taking advantage of me!" she
yelled. She grabbed her coat, and ran up to the door. She opened it, to find a
stunned Matt. His arm was in a knocking position.
"Mimi...
I... what are you doing here?" he asked. He had a hurt expression in his
eyes.
"No.
Matt, it's not what you think!" she said quickly.
"We
haven't even been broken up for a day, and you're already sleeping with him.
Now it makes perfect sense." he said. Bren walked up behind Mimi.
"You planned the whole thing! If you wanted to break up with me Mimi, you
should have just done it." he glanced at Bren. "You didn't have to
pretend to care about me, if you wanted him." he backed up, and started to
walk away.
"No
Matt! I wasn't pretending to care about you, and I don't want him!"
"Then
why is your lipstick on his lips!" he said sternly.
Mimi
turned around, and looked at Bren. "Tell him what you did! Tell him
now!"
"Fine.
I went in to see her this morning, and she kissed me. I tried to make her stop,
but when she gets started, you can't stop her. Of course, you'd never
know." he said coldly.
"You
liar! That's not what happened! He kissed me... I though it was you."
He
ran out the door.
"You."
said Mimi angrily. "You did this. You broke Matt and me up. Then you knew
I'd go to the coffee shop. The only reason you took me back here, was because
you thought I'd sleep with you."
"I
knew you would have slept with me. He didn't deserve you. He would have broken
up with you anyway." retorted Bren.
"How
would you know? You took it upon yourself to play God with my love life, and
you killed it. You killed the one chance I had at happiness! I hate you!"
she screamed. Mimi ran after Matt. She caught him, just as he was ridding off.
Matt
walked into his room. He lied down on his bed, and covered his eyes with his
hands. There was knock on his door. "Can I come in son?"
"Sure.
Why not?" replied Matt. His dad walked into his room, and sat at the edge
of his bed.
"Where
were you last night?" he asked.
"Flying
with Superman. Then I had tea with the queen of England..."
"Don't
be smart with me! Just tell me where you were!" he said impatiently.
"Were you with Mimi?
Matt
laughed. "Don't I wish." he sat up. "Last night, Mimi and I
broke up. I ended up hurting myself, and was in a recovery room all night.
There, you happy now? I wasn't off having sex, or drinking or anything!"
"You
started ridding again, didn't you?" he asked.
Matt
started to cry. "Yeah. This time, it killed me." he said.
"What
happened?" he asked. Matt explained what happened. "I'm so sorry son.
I knew how much you cared about her."
"Cared
about her! I loved her! I trusted her! She was my whole world..." he
stifled in a cry. "I hate her."
"Impossible.
You'll always care about her." he said. He got off Matt's bed, and walked
out of the room. "Are you coming out? Dinners ready."
"No.
I'm gonna lie here till the pain stops." said Matt.
Days
turned into weeks. Weeks turned into a month. Matt just stayed in his room.
Everything seemed to remind him of Mimi. His dad had delivered his meals to the
door. Sometimes he didn't even eat.
The
phone rang in Mimi's house. She pulled herself across the living room, and
answered it. "Hello." she replied weakly.
"Hey
Mimi!" replied a chipper voice. "We won the tournament! Tai and I
really did well. The coach made us both MVP's!"
"Hey
Sora. Congratulations. I'm thrilled." she said in a depressed voice.
"Mimi.
Is everything okay? You sound really bad. Ya sick or something?" she
asked.
"Or
something." said Mimi. She began to cry lightly.
"Oh
man. It's Matt. Listen. I'll be over soon. Don't go anywhere."
"Don't
worry. I haven't gone anywhere in a long time."
Sora
got to Mimi's house in under 10 minutes. Mimi was standing by the door frame,
waiting. "I'm glad you're here. I really need someone to talk to."
"Tell
me everything." said a concerned Sora. She looked at her friend. Her hair
was a mess. Her eyes were bloodshot. Her skin had this sick glow to it, like
she hadn't been out in the sun in a while.
Sora
was flabbergasted. 'Mimi couldn't have done any of that. Not the same Mimi who
loves pink, and hates the thought of getting dirty! Why would she make this up?
Even if it wasn't true, Matt obviously believes her, because if he broke up
with her!' thought Sora. "Mimi, how long had it been since you've been
outside?"
"I
can't remember. I was a long time ago." she replied.
"So.
I leave for a month, and this is what happens?" joked Sora. Mimi didn't
laugh. "You're coming with me. Get dressed. I'm taking you to the
mall."
"I
don't feel like shopping right now." said Mimi.
"I
don't care if I have to drag you out of this house by your hair! You're coming
with me. That's final!" she exclaimed.
Mimi
smiled. "I guess I have no other choice!" she walked to her room, and
quickly dressed. She returned wearing a black mini skirt, and a pale blue tank
top. She covered her eyes with a pair of green tinted sunglasses. "Let's
get going!" she said happily.
"Matt.
Is that you? I just phoned to say Sora and I won the tournament!" it was
Tai. Matt had accidentally picked up his phone.
"That's
great man." he said dully.
You
alright?" asked Tai.
"No.
I feel horrible." said Matt.
"Listen.
I'm like 2 stories away from your house. I'll be right over." Tai dropped
the phone on the receiver, and dashed to Matt's house.
"Matt,
what's wrong?" asked Tai, when he was in Matt's room.
"It's
a long story that ends with Mimi and me breaking up." replied Matt.
"I'm
sorry." Tai said. "I know how much you loved her."
"Love
her. It's love her Tai. I know I should be hating her! But I don't. Every
second I'm away from her, kills me a little more. She was my reason for going
to bed at night and my reason for waking up in the morning." he laughed.
"You don't know how much you truly miss something until it's gone. I want
her back. I don't care about anything that happened, I just want her
back!"
"Then
go find her. Tell this to her, not me!" said Tai.
"She
wouldn't want me after what I put her through. I made her seem like a monster!
The truth is, my jealousy was the only monster." replied Matt. He looked
at his ceiling.
"If
she loves you as much, as you love her, it'll work out." said Tai smiling.
"Common! Knowing Mimi, she's probably at the mall."
"Thank
Tai. I owe you."
"Don't
you know it! Do you know a good place to get an id bracelet? I want to get one
for Sora." he said smiling to himself. Matt looked at him funny.
"Private joke." he explained.
"There's
a good place at the mall. I'll show you where it is." he said, pulling off
his shirt, and placing a clean one on.
"Thanks
Sora! This has been so much fun! I almost forgot what the mall was like!"
exclaimed Mimi.
"Wasn't
the manager of Gap happy you returned! How much did you spend there? A thousand
dollars!" she said laughing.
"Only
two hundred! Well, these capris are so pretty. And in so many colors!" she
replied. She must have had a fifty bags in her hand.
"I'm
glad you're feeling better." said Sora.
"Thank
you so much. I really owe you one." said Mimi.
"No
you don't. But you could tell me wether I look better in black or in
purple." she held up 2 dresses.
"Aah.
So the question is, which dress will Tai notice me in?" replied Mimi.
"No!
That's not it at all!" yelled Sora.
"You
really are a bad liar." she said
"Dammit.
You know we too well." giggled Sora.
"Anyway,
the black one. It matches your hair color."
"Thanks
Mimi." said Sora. She ran into a changing booth. She came out wearing the
dress.
"Yeah.
You look great! If Tai doesn't notice you, he's blind!" smiled Mimi.
Just
then, Tai came running up to Mimi and Sora. "Hey you two..." his
voice trailed off when he saw Sora. "Wow! Sora, you look... amazing!"
he mumbled.
Sora
blushed. "Thanks Tai."
He
kept staring. Then he shook his head, and handed her a small box."This is
for you. I had it made."
Se
opened the box, and gasped. "Tai. This is beautiful. It even says
Sandy!" she laughed. A tear was forming in the coroner of her eye.
"Why
Sandy?" asked Mimi.
"The
ref kept calling Sora, Sandy. Then the coach. It took them 25 minutes to find a
Sandy, on the score sheet!"
Sora
put on the bracelet. "I love it Tai."
"That's
not all she loves." whispered Mimi. Sora heard, and blushed an even deeper
shade of red. Tai didn't seem to notice.
"Sora,
would you like to catch a movie with me?" he said nervously.
"Sure.
That would be fun." she replied. A huge smile broke out on her face. She
paid for the dress, and went up to Mimi. "Will you be okay? Do you want me
to walk you home?"
"God
no! You have a date with Tai. And let me add, he's looking especially cute
today. I can walk home! It'll only take me a few minutes."
"Are
you sure?" asked Sora.
"Don't
let me ruin your evening." she smiled. "Have fun. Call me later. I
want details."
Sora
laughed. "Okay."
By
the time Mimi left the mall, it was close to 10:30 at night. As she was walking
home, she stopped. "Damn. Do I have my key?" she put down all her
bags, and began to rifle through her purse. 2 pairs of eyes were watching her.
1 set was making sure she got home safely. The other set wanted to do her harm.
'She
looks so beautiful. I hope she gets home safely.' said a figure. Mimi got the
'someone is watching you' feeling. She looked up, right in the direction of the
shadowed figure. He hid behind car. 'I can't let her see me. She'll think I'm
stalking her or something.' Mimi shrugged it off, and continued to look through
her purse.
"I
know they're in here some whe..." she was pulled from behind. A gloved
hand came down over her mouth. She tried to scream, but it was muffled by the
huge hand. It pushed her up against a wall.
"Say
one word, and I'll gut you like a fish!" he hissed. He pulled out a large
knife,, and held it to her throat.
"Please
don't kill me." sobbed Mimi
"Oh,
I have no intention of killing you. I just wanna have a little fun." he
smirked. Mimi looked at him. He must have been 20 years old, max. "It's
not everyday you meet a hot little number like you."
Mimi
couldn't take it. "Someone help me!" she screamed. The shadowed figure
heard her. He ran as fast as he could to her.
"Now
why did ya have to go and screw up everything? Now I have to kill ya!" he
said lifting the knife. He brought it down hard. It lodged in Mimi's stomach.
"Aaahhh!"
she screamed. He pulled the knife out of her stomach, only to be bulldozed
down.
"You
son of a bitch! I'll kill you!" screamed a boy. He wrestled with the man.
"You're
too much of a weakling to take me on!" said the man pushing him off. He
took his knife and slashed at the boy. It hit his face, leaving a wide gash.
Blood dripped out of his wound.
"Nice
try. It's only a flesh wound." he once again jumped on the man. This time
he ended up with the knife.
The
world was spinning around Mimi. Her stomach was in so much pain. She clutched
at it, trying to stop the flow of blood. She coughed up blood. 'That's not
good.' she said to herself. She tried to get up, but she was just too weak. She
managed to lift her head. She saw the ferocious battle for the knife. She heard
a familiar voice, and the voice of her attacked. She heard the attacker yell.
"You
got me. Now, finish me off. If you have the guts."
"Don't
tempt me." said the voice. The next few thing were unclear to Mimi. She
was trying to figure out who the voice belonged to. It all came back to her, as
she saw the knife come up, he was ready to strike. He brought it down with
amazing force and accuracy.
"MATT
NO!" screamed Mimi. Then she blacked out, from pain.
When
Mimi came too, she was in a hospital room. 'Not again.' she thought. There was
a nurse adjusting a valve. "What happened to me?" she asked. She
found it difficult to talk.
"You
were stabbed. Thank heavens that boy found you. If you would have lost any more
blood, you'd be in the morgue right now." she said. "Try to get some
rest. You need it." Mimi felt herself losing consciousness fast. She fell
into a deep slumber.
Mimi
woke up again. There were a pair of warm hands, holding hers. She saw a mop of
spiky blond hair, at her side. It began to move. "Matt. What are you doing
here?" she gasped.
"I
said I'd always watch over you." he smiled. There was a wide white bandage
on his cheek.
"What
happened? Are you alright?" she tried to sit up, but fell down in pain.
"You're
still not strong enough to stand." he said. He grabbed her waist and
guided her back down. "This is all my fault. I should have protected you.
That man almost killed you..." his voice trailed off. "I could have
stopped this."
"Matt.
You can't blame yourself. You had no way of knowing that would happen."
she winced in pain.
"I
almost killed him." Matt said numbly. "He got me so angry. Just
knowing he wanted to harm you... my rage got the best of me."
"Matt..."
Mimi whispered. She couldn't finish her sentence. She reached up and touched
his cheek. "Thank you."
Matt
turned around and looked at her."I love you Mimi." her grasped at her
hand, and kissed it. "I love you so much... I'm so sorry." he began
to cry.
Mimi
wiped away his tears. His eyes were staring into hers. A warm and peaceful
feeling passed over her. For the first time in a long time, she felt safe.
"I love you too. I can't stand to be away from you." Mimi kissed him.
He kissed back. He began to pull her up slowly. He placed his hand on her back,
so she wouldn't be in any pain. A warm tear dripped onto his arm. They were
together again. Not even their pasts could keep them apart.
"Matt,
I'm sorry for not telling you." cried Mimi.
"It's
okay now. It was my jealousy talking, not my heart." he smiled and
continued to kiss her. "I love you."
