EDDIE CHAT

Eddie Cibrian: Hello! I'm glad to be here and to be able to answer your questions. Go ahead and shoot!

Chat Moderator: Eddie, are you burned out, you're on every day right now? During sweeps you are the focal point -- is that exciting or demanding, or both?

Eddie Cibrian: No, it actually makes work a lot of fun, to tell you the truth. I think the character is fascinating and I enjoy coming into work every day and portraying Cole.

flute: Hi there! Nice to chat with you. Which character do you like better, Sunset or Y&R character -- do you keep in touch with any of the Y&R gang? Thank you.

Eddie Cibrian: First off, I enjoy playing the character of Cole better because he has so many dimensions. Matt Clark from Y&R was just plain bad and that's it. I do keep in touch with some people from Y&R. Like Joshua Morrow and Scott Reeves.

Q: You were really evil on Y&R -- I loved when Eric Braeden hit you? Was it neat working with him?

Eddie Cibrian: It was neat working with Eric. He's a very intense man on and off screen. The scene you're talking about... there wasn't a hit written in the scene, but it was just improv on Eric's part.

Q: Who is your favorite actress on Sunset Beach to work with?

Eddie Cibrian: I actually like working with all of them. We have such a good cast ability wise and I enjoy working with them all. I do think Kathleen Noone though brings a lot of comedy when we work together.

Q: What's the funniest thing that's ever happened on the set of Sunset?

Eddie Cibrian: Sam Behrens came out -- when he was supposed to be dressed in a suit -- in his underwear. He came out with socks in his underwear and said, "I found the Deschanel jewels"... We all just cracked up for about a half hour.

Q: Do you have any pets?

Eddie Cibrian: I do. I have a Jack Russell. He is a wild dog. His name is Wyatt.

sweet_lips: Do you get along with everyone on the show?

Eddie Cibrian: I do. And I think that's what makes Sunset Beach so nice to come to work with every day. There's no attitudes and we hang out off screen as well.

sweet_lips: Can you give us a little hint on what's going to happen between Cole and Caitlin?

Eddie Cibrian: Hopefully, Cole finds Caitlin. And hopefully, their family's intact as far as the baby is concerned... but we'll have to wait and see!

flute: Have you ever done stage work... would you consider it?

Eddie Cibrian: I've never done serious stage work. I've done it at school. I would definitely consider it, but right now I really enjoy the magic of TV and performing in front of a camera.

sweet_lips: How old were you when you first started to act?

Eddie Cibrian: I first started to act when I was 12... between 12 to 15. I did a lot of commercials. But I quit and then got back into acting at the age of 20.

Q: Are you going to submit yourself for the Daytime Emmys this year?

Eddie Cibrian: I am. Actually, that's one thing that would be such a wonderful honor and that would be to be nominated for the Outstanding Younger Man category. Thank God the producers and the writers have given me such great stories to work with.

Q: Do you work out, it looks like you do?

Eddie Cibrian: I do work out. Not much as I used to. I try to get into the gym three times a week, and I play basketball a lot which gives me my cardio-vascular exercise.

flute: Any siblings? Any as cute as you?

Eddie Cibrian: Unfortunately, I'm the only child.

Q: What do you do when you're not working?

Eddie Cibrian: Maybe.

Eddie Cibrian: I liked playing the international jewel thief... the sneaking around, stealing the jewels and romancing the women. That's fun to play.

Q: What's it like working with Sam Behrens, is it fun or is he as mean as he portrays?

Eddie Cibrian: Sam's a wonderful guy. An incredibly gifted actor as well. We hang out off screen as well. We play golf together. His wife Shari Belafonte-Harper is great too.

Q: Are their other actors in daytime whose work you admire?

Eddie Cibrian: I admire a lot people's work in daytime. I think -- as far as an actor is concerned -- it's the hardest job to do it. You're trying to make your work believable in an incredibly small amount of time.

Q: Did you have any odd jobs before you were a successful actor? And, what advice would you give to aspiring actors?

Eddie Cibrian: Long time ago, I used to work for UPS. I used to load boxes into the truck -- I wouldn't recommend that for anyone. My advice is to stick with it... All you need is one "yes" from all the "nos" you'll hear.

Eddie Cibrian: I was born and raised in California. I am a Gemini. I don't really follow astrology.

Q: Is it hard being part of a new show?

Eddie Cibrian: I think that's what makes it exciting... different for all of us because it is new. We're all in it together to make the show succeed.

Q: Do you follow sports, if so what are your favorite teams?

Eddie Cibrian: Well, basketball -- the Lakers. Football -- the Miami Dolphins and the Carolina Panthers. I don't follow much baseball but I do like the Dodgers a lot and if I was going to pick a team, it would be them.

Q: If you could be anyone else who would you be and why?

Eddie Cibrian: That's a good question... I've never really thought about that. I don't know, to tell you the truth.

Q: Do you like doing publicity or is it tiring?

Eddie Cibrian: I enjoy doing the publicity part of it... and I understand that's a huge part of an actor's -- and a show's -- success. It doesn't bother me one bit.

Q: What's it like being a hunk? Do you consider yourself hot?

Eddie Cibrian: Well, I don't consider myself a hunk... I guess I've got to get used to that phrase... Actually, I consider myself lukewarm to cold.

Q: Do you ever go to NYC?

Eddie Cibrian: I love New York City. I usually go there about twice a year. I try to go for the Emmys in May, but I like going during the holiday season because it's so beautiful there.

Q: Is it hard to learn pages of dialogue -- especially when you first started?

Eddie Cibrian: When I first started on Y&R, it was one of the biggest things a new soap actor has to get accustomed to. But the brain is like any other muscle and it gets used to be used.

flute: Would you like to direct someday?

Eddie Cibrian: I would love to direct someday. I'm getting the itch right now. I think that's definitely an avenue I'm going to pursue someday.

sweet_lips: Where did you grow up?

Eddie Cibrian: I grew up in San Fernando Valley -- Granada Hills area.

Q: On "Y&R" who did you want to work with, but never got a chance?

Eddie Cibrian: I never got a chance to work with Scott Reeves, Melody Thomas Scott -- who I would I have loved to work with... Seems like I could name a lot of them.

Q: Is it hard to cry on cue or easy for you?

Eddie Cibrian: On cue... it's difficult to cry. It would take some preparation, for sure.

Q: What's the hardest thing you ever had to do acting-wise?

Eddie Cibrian: I'll tell you what's hard is when we go out to the Seal Beach location and we try to act out pages of dialogue and there's a 20 mile an hour wind coming right at you. That's hard!

Q: Did you go to acting school and who did you study with?

Eddie Cibrian: I studied a little bit at UCLA when I was there. And with an acting coach named Lois Auer. A lot I've picked up on my own and most of it really came naturally.

Q: What's you favorite movie of all time? Do you cook at home?

Eddie Cibrian: There's so much going on in the next couple of months. I'm not even allowed to discuss it... but it's wonderful stuff so you've got to keep watching!

Q: Did you want the baby to be yours?

Eddie Cibrian: Noooo!

Q: Do you like to go to the park and just hang out?

Eddie Cibrian: I take my dog for walks a lot. I like to do anything that concerns the outdoors. I'm looking forward to the cold here in Southern California. I'm looking forward to going snow skiing in the mountains.
