BACKGROUND: Ares is the Olympian God of War, Hercules' half-brother, and the son of the Gods Zeus and Hera. As the God of War, bloodlust and hate come easy for Ares. He pulls peoples strings and inflames their passions in order to get them to do his biddings. Ares is most proud of those who are committed, decisive and ruthless on the battlefield. His favorite and most prized pupil was Xena. Since she now fights agaist tyrany and injustice, he attempts to deceive and manipulate the Warrior Princess in the vain hopes of bringing her back into his fold. Later he becomes in the plot like most all of the Olympian gods and goddess to kill Xena child Eve. Who will bring upon the death of them. Ares tell Xena in the underworld that he loves Xena. Xena doesn't belive Ares. That it is just another trick of his. Xena gets the power to kill the gods and she kills any of them that get in her way. The only way she can have this power is if Eve is alive. When Gabrielle is tricked into trying to kill Eve by the Furies. Gabrielle stabs Eve and Xena comes in on this and hits Gabrielle with her Chakram. With Eve and Gabrielle dying. Xena is fighting Athena to protect them (At least what is left of them) Eve dies and Xena has loss her ability to kill gods. Athena is about to kill Xena. When Xena stabs her and Athena has been killed. Well not until she gets in a couple of words. She asks how Eve is alive and Ares tells her that he has healed Eve and Gabrielle. But Athena asks how because no one can be healed with out her blessing. We find that Ares has given up his god hood in order to save Xena. He does truly love Xena. Later Ares finds a army still pretending to be the god of war. The furies are driving him insane so they can get Ares to kill Xena and then they can rule. Ares and Xena do indeed get in a fight. Ares pushes Xena into icy cold water. Drowning Xena under the ice. The furies leave Ares head knowing that Xena is dead. As the furies tell their evil plan to Ares. Xena chakram hits them killing them. (Xena handy work before she was pushed into the water. The chakram was bouncing around etc.) Ares jumps in the water and bring Xena out of the water. Gabrielle comes and brings Xena back to life. Telling Ares that this was part of Xena's plan. Later Xena and Ares talk and Ares ask if he will ever have a chance with Xena. Xena tell him about a billion and one chance. And Ares says it's still a chance.
