Hudson grew up in Rochester, New York and worked as a model in Rochester and Tokyo before attending acting school in NYC. She attended Brighton High School in Rochester, NY.When she returned to New York, her dream was to be an international model and then go into acting. One day, she quit modeling while in France, and pursued a TV career.
She is a graduate of the prestigious neighborhood playhouse acting school in New York City. She currently lives in Los Angeles, CA. She's not married but is currently in a relationship. She also lived briefly in Vancouver during the filming of University Hospital. Hudson enjoys activities that include healing(such as Yoga, Meditation, etc.) She also loves traveling, climbing mountains, and going to yoga retreats.
Hudson doesn't know exactly why she has been cast into the "bad girl" or the so call "Villian" roles, but she really enjoys playing those types of characters. Hudson says that the bad girl roles are much more enjoyable and give her the opportunity to release.

Born Heidi Hudson Leick, she took Hudson as her first name because it's her grandmother's maiden name and Hudson says her roots are important.

Hudson's big break in television came auditioning for her signature role of Callisto. The casting people told her the part was basically a Warrior Queen, which she thought was great. Her audition consisted of doing a kick and throwing a chakram; having intimidated the crew, she got the part. Hudson attends Xena conventions as a guest of honor. She said her celebrity status surprises even her: when she had a birthday, several hundred fans sent her email messages. Her presence touches so many other people.
