Hi, My name is David.  Here, I am known as Assassin. I began playing this most excellent sport shortly after the millenium and bought a Piranha EXT on March  10, 2000. Ever since then, I've been hooked.....
Really an ADDICT.
It all started when a couple of friends and I got together at another friend's house with pump Talons. We also used like safety goggles for head gear. INSANITY. We promptly went out and purchased REAL head gear, mine is a JT X-FIRE. I've since added a yellow THERMAL lense. Anyhow, we played in the woods here and there, and had lots of fun. Then someone got a semi-automatic.
I held off as long as I could and then got the EXT with a 20 oz CO2 tank. That's when I realized what was up. Throwing paint in massive quantitys is FUN. A LOT OF FUN. And the RUSH of having someone throwing some back at you .....WHEW. We went crazy, bought all kinds of goodies, upgrading gear, and painting lots of trees and anything else around. At this point there were about 10 of us regulars, and a few others from time to time. We only had Wallyworld or the pawn shop as a source for gear. Then we tried out the internet and found it to be reasonable and cheaper than anything local. We also started talking about a way  to help minimize the expense by forming a league. AWOL already had an internet page about our paintball experience and quickly picked the league idea to incorporate a league roster and much much more.
We had a few places to play, but not too much diversity. After a few months we only had  two places to play but that was soon to change.
The league continued growing to 20+ members. We purchased a chronograph to control marker velocities and some members acquired scuba tanks and fill stations to re-fill HPA. On that note, a lot of members went HPA including me (AGD Flatline) and I'm sure overall we are saving money and getting better marker performance over CO2.  So with more members comes more locations to play. We had a woods field in a town nearby and I set a few things up near my house, but when Trick added his woods....huge woods with a creek it added a whole new perspective. And then Trick landed us the old school to play in...way cool. Before 1 year had passed, I hooked us up on an old dirt pit (it's like Mars) and that gave us 5 Battlezones with a lot of different type places to play....dense woods, thin woods, field, creek / island, and cratered desert. Excellent.
We also learned about speedball along the way. It turns out that in Tallahassee Fla. there is a guy that plays and operates a paintball supply store. Rob (The Spy Shop) also has a speedball field nearby and we hooked up with him. Rob began helping us with supplies and when He realized we had a market, he made paint prices reasonable and began coming to the meets with CO2 and other stuff. Big help.
We began to see more upper level performance markers being used by members like an Angel, 2 Bushys, and lots of AutoMags all with HPA and 12v. Revolutions.  I want a Mag RT.  UPDATE: Ok... I picked up an ANGEL Speed
AWOL delegated some parts of the league website to those members who are into building web pages and our site is growing as is our reputation. We've even had full page exposure in the local newspaper.
So, here we are at one year. A league with a name, cards, and a growing list of members 30+. Paintball is great. And we've got WARPAINT. The best 3 man team in the league....so I'm a little biased. By the way.... WARPAINT and AWOL PAINTBALL RENEGADE LEAGUE are currently seeking sponsorship in any way: paint, gear, tourney entry fees, travel expense, etc.  Theres much more to come in the future. Come back often and visit our LEAGUE site
MORE UPDATES: My computer crashed months ago...died a really horrible death. Now I've got a new one and am updating everything. So, there was HELL ON EARTH, AWOL's 1st scenario that went off great. Then some of us went to Waynes World and played the CLUES scenario. Now we are planning the 2nd AWOL scenario...MORE TO COME SOON.
