PAINTBALLS You didn't know that paintballs could last up to a year did you? That's right paintballs have a fair shelf life, but paintballs have one major enemy--------MOISTURE! Moisture in any form will damage paintballs, bloating the thin gelatin shells. Bloated paintballs break in the barrel and can cause fluctuations in marker velocities. To prevent these potential problems, there are a few steps to take in protecting your investment. First, if you purchased paintballs packaged in hard plastic containers, open the package when you are ready to use the paintballs and use them as quickly as possible. If you bought paintballs packaged in soft plastic bags like comes in cases, you need to take the bags out of the box. Loosen the paintballs by gently moving them in the bag and lay the bags on a flat surface. Loosening the paintballs will allow them to regain shape after being packaged and shipped. Also by loosening the paintballs, you can check for any broken ones. Keep your paintballs cool and dry. Don't open the package until you are ready to use the paintballs. Actually, keep them tightly closed and check them when you first open the box. Sometimes they get loose in shipping. Don't keep your paintballs in the sun, or in a hot car or truck. The heat draws moisture and moisture is what you don't want. After opening a package of paintballs, reseal the package as quickly as possible and place in the shade. Over the course of the day, the paintballs in your hopper will pick up small amounts of moisture as will pods in your harness or pack. Do not mix these paintballs into your fresh paintball stock. The moisture from these paintballs will affect the others and may damage your whole paintball supply. It is advised that you use all of the paint that you open and only go home after you run out. If you insist on repackaging, place the leftover paintballs into an airtight container by themselves---NOT with your fresh paintballs. Keeping your paintballs clean and dry will help in maintaining your paintball quality, thus protecting your investment and making your day much more successful. On a final note, the brand of paintballs you purchase can make a very critical difference in the performance that you achieve with your marker. You can take very good care of junk paintballs and still have poor performance out of your marker! Try blowing different brands of paintballs thru your BARREL. If you have to blow real hard, The paintball is to large. If you don't have to blow hard at all, the paintball is to small. If the paintball needs just a little blow to launch out of the barrel, it's just right. Stick with this brand and type of paintballs and your performance will be much more consistent.
