EXPONENTIAL NOTATION
Exponential notation is a way to show repeated multiplication by the same factor.
Example:   2 3    is exponential notation for 2 x 2 x 2. The 3 is the exponent and the 2 is the base. The exponent tells how many times the base is used as a factor.
       23   = 8 (because 2 x 2 x 2 = 8)
