on wednesday, october 30 2002, i was driving home from our first the curse of the cobra's kiss rehearsal. it was approximately 6:00pm when i reached the bethany & greenville intersection, heading south on greenville. i was in the left turn lane. though my green arrow was gone, i did still have a green light. all the cars northbound on greenville were at a safe distance away that would allow me to take the left. so i took it. i had misjudged. seemingly out of nowhere a huge suv came barreling toward me. i knew i wouldn't make it across the intersection, so as to avoid being hit in the front and thrown into a spin which could very likely push me into other cars and causing further damage, i accelerated. the suv slammed into my passenger side door and pushed me to the other side of the intersection. i'll never forget the sound of the glass busting inside the window wells or the sound of the airbags exploding out or the smell of the radiator fluid. fortunately i was alright, physically, and got out of the car with only some cuts and bruises. the people in the suv didn't have a scratch on them. after speaking to the police and my parents and katy, i sadly walked away from the accident before they towed my car away. five days later i visited the junkyard to get out any remaining items i'd left in the car and to take the pictures shown here on the site.
i'll miss you, mirage, although you've already been replaced with a much better car. i'll never forget you.
