Drops
Next, take a minimum of six reps of each dropback you do. You should include: three step, five step, sprint out, and roll out.
Option
If your team does not run the option, you may ignore this. Stand five yards from your partner, facing the wide side of the field. As you jog down the width of the field, sit and pitch every five yards. Practice flawless, accurate pitches.
Sprint and Follow
Stand on a yard line fifteen to twenty yards away from your partner. Sprint towards him as he backpedals away. When he flashes his hands, throw the ball fully on the run. Keep good rollout mechanic, rotating the hips and shoulders and throwing off the off foot. Continue for twenty passes.
Take the snap from your partner, and take a normal five step drop. Pick up signs from your partner and shuffle your feet in the direction his thumb directs. When he flashes his hands, set up and throw with a smooth motion. Repeat at least five times.
Escape
Position yourself under center. Have to partners act as defensive ends. Have them predetermine someone to rush at a particular shoulder. Take the snap and a normal five step drop. As soon as possilbe pick up the oncoming rusher. On the fifth step of the drop, instead of setting up, elude the rusher by either stepping up, back or spinning away. Repeat at least five times.
Bucket
This drill simulate throwing the timed fade. Place a trash can on the sideline twenty three to thirty eight (depending on pass and arm strength) yards away. Stand in the middle of the field. Take a standard drop, and on the last step plant and throw the ball with a high arc, aimed at the trash can. If you sink the football in the trash can, make your coach buy you a steak dinner.
Route Tree
Take a snap with a reciver in his normal position. Run through every pass route in your playbook. Work on good mechanics and throwing on time. Do not continue to the next pass until you have throw at least three flawless passes of the preceding pattern.
Scrimage
Play the wonderful game of football with a full offense against a full defense. Execute what you have mercilessly beat into your muscle memory, and polish to perfection.
