My father, Rommye Lee Yancey, served in World War II in the US Navy. He served on the USS Phoenix and the USS Lake Champlain. Dad was in the Leyte Gulf battle. The USS Phoenix was decommissioned and sold to Argentina. They named it the General Belgrano and it sank during the Faukland Island crisis.
My uncle, Bobby Burns Yancey, served in World War II in the US Army. He served in Germany.
