Greetings from Russell's Remnant:
Russell Whitesell often said that "Less is more." He advocated that disciples simplify their lives. D.K. stated that food, warmth and a roof is all one needs in this world. Where have we gone wrong? Is it our selfishness or is it our legal system or both?
D. K. states that one of the lessons to be learnt by humanity at the present time is how few material things are really necessary to life and happiness. The real tragedy is that the Western Hemisphere, particularly the United States, will not share in the pending spiritual and vitalizing process; they are at present too selfish to permit it to happen. "The U.S. has corrupt politics and childish selfishness. The southern states are almost unbelievably degenerated and deluded. The conflict in the U.S. is between a love of freedom, which amounts almost to irresponsibility and license, and a growing humanitarian ideology which will result in world service and non-separateness. The American people believe that everything in the U.S. is better than anything anywhere else." RAI 628+
He also points out that three nations will bring back the Christ - Russia, Great Britain and the United States. Each of these nations however has a major problem to overcome. "Three great countries hold the destiny of humanity in their hands: The U.S.A., Great Britain and Russia. Russia is retarded by a dictatorship which will shortly end; corrupt politics in the States; and ancient imperialistic tendencies in Great Britain. The U.S. is learning the most slowly." EA 526
The U. S. courts have ruled that a burglar, who broke into a home to steal, slipped and fell breaking his leg. He sued the homeowner for negligence and won a large cash judgment. The unlawful, greedy, selfish people have joined forces with the unethical lawyers to rape the system. Something must be done. This must stop. If this story doesn't want to make you do something, maybe the next one will.
The following article appeared in the Ruff Times Newsletter: "Professional violinist, Carla Vindacaro, had played the violin for 12 hours a day (by her own choice). As a result she was unable to straighten her arm or raise her left cheek from her shoulder. After consulting an ambulance-chasing lawyer, she sued her violin teacher, the Juliard School of Music, the seller of the violin, and the violin maker. She was awarded $3 million from the instructor and Juliard, and the court directed OSHA (a U.S. government safety agency) to be on the alert for possible violations at the school. The court also ruled the violin dealer, Johannes Deutsch, was negligent for not placing a warning on the violin. He was found liable for $3 million. The most creative ruling was against violin maker, Nicholas Gagliano and his descendants. Old Nick died before 1800, so the court ruled that his heirs, owners of the Great Grapes Winery of California were liable for $40 million." Any people who allow this kind of atrocious legal decision to prevail cannot last long as a nation.
Is it not interesting that the American colonies opened their arms to all except for one group of people? This group they referred to as "vermin." The vermin were the attorneys at law. Even the Christian Bible warns the lawyers, "And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers." Luke 11:46 (KJV) America started out with good intentions, but we dropped the ball somewhere because we are inundated with lawyers and corrupt politicians.
Even D.K. is suspect of the law - "Can lawyers and judges administer earthly laws if they have no concept of the laws of the Universe? Earth is not isolated from all the other worlds." AUM 145+ "There must be a closer tie-up between the educational system, the legal system and government." EOH 52
"The reason for the corrupt politics and the greedy ambitious planning of so many of the world's leading men can be found in the fact that spiritually minded men and women have not assumed - as their spiritual duty and responsibility - the leadership of the people." POH 168+ Maybe it is about time that we meditate about improving the legal and political systems! It appears that we too have failed in our spiritual duties of leadership. If we do not follow our own thoughts then we end up following the thoughts of the fellow who followed his. Raise your voice. Meditate on solutions. Lead.
