Russell Whitesell was a child prodigy on the violin. Music had been his life for many lifetimes. It all started in the time of the troubadours. He loved classical music and was pained by most other forms of music. He pointed out that jazz is one of the lowest forms of music on the planet. It was such a shame to see classical musicians playing lesser music, especially jazz. To this enlightened man, all music was just noise except the classical works of the great composers. Russell said that "quality" is an aspect of soul. Anyone who puts quality into his or her work puts soul in their work. Hey, you citizens of Earth - put quality into your work - no matter what the work - be it musician, craftsman or cook.
He encouraged all listeners, but especially his disciples, to listen to the works of the great composers. He made special note of Handel’s "Water Music Suite." He gave a lecture about the rising of the energies from the base of the spine to the crown chakra while listening to Sibelius’s "Swan of Tuonela." He gave special mention to Wagner with a very strong recommendation to quietly listen to "Tristan and Isolde."
