Disciples should remember that the 6th Ray is going out and this produces the worst in the conservatives and zealots of the world. Also remember that New York City is one of the five spiritual centers on the planet.
D.K. pointed out that disciples failed to do their work on the mental plane in the 1930’s to hinder the Axis powers. Let us not fail to address the evil forces mentally now. The battle for the planet is going on right now on the mental plane and physical plane. Work done now on the mental plane can prevent World War III. If men of goodwill fail to win the battle on the mental plane, it will have to be an all out war on the physical plane. Our planet is facing a major initiation. If we pass the test, Earth could become a spiritual planet. If not, we could face another Atlantis.
D.K. cautioned:
The war which may follow this one (WWII) would be waged in the field of world religions. It will be fought largely with mental weapons and in the world of thought. It will involve also the emotional realm, from the standpoint of idealistic fanaticism. The most powerful conservative elements of the well-organized churches are already girding for battle based upon their fanaticism, entrenched theological positions and materialistic selfishness. The coming struggle will emerge within the churches themselves. The fight will then spread to thinking people who revolted from orthodox churchianity and theology. It is the Hierarchy's task to reach enlightened men and women in all the churches; political parties; and all social, economic and educational organizations. EOH 455

Selfishness and self-interest lengthened the war (1914-45) by years. Had all the civilized nations of the world banded together and swung into action against Germany going into Poland, or Japan going into Manchuria, or Italy going into Ethiopia; the war which devastated the entire planet would not have been possible. Christ will come when a measure of peace has been restored, sharing is in the process of controlling economic affairs, and when churches and political groups have begun to clean house. ROC 163
U.S.S.R., U.S. and the U.K. constitute the most potent triangle of energy and once there is free circulation and a true understanding between them, then world peace will be assured and the Christ can come. RAI 630
Love is the fixed determination to do what is best for the group or humanity and do this at any cost. Peace is not the goal, but the establishing right human relations. Peace is usually selfish in purpose. People long for peace because they want to be happy. Peace and war are not a true pair of opposites. Peace and change or movement are the real ones. War is but an aspect of change. EOH 277
Goodwill is man's first attempt to express the love of God. Its results on earth will be peace. Goodwill really practiced among groups can revolutionize the world. POH 7
The Jews, by their illegal and terroristic activities, have laid a foundation of great difficulty for those seeking world peace. A Jewish ashram member stated that Jews have partially opened the door to Evil. A Hierarchical map shows a heavy cloud over the Jews, Greece, Yugoslavia, Turkey, Palestine, the Arab States, Egypt and Russia. RAI 430
The U.S.A. has a strong desire life impelling it to sex. America responds rapidly to every form of idealism, to the needs of others - even of its enemies, to compassion for all suffering. DON 59+
The appeasement and the pacifist attitudes of men like Gandhi bring into perspective the uncompromising, fanatical attitude which is non-realistic and which will sacrifice lives, nations and the future of humanity in order to attain its object. EOH 368
It is self-interest, short vision and prejudice that basically governs neutrality. Those neutral defend themselves, but refuse to fight for humanity. Men pray for peace but will not pay the price of peace. Every step of the way will entail a fight - the overturning of that which is old and selfish. EOH 240+
Pacifism has no place in the ranks of the Hierarchy. The destruction of form in battle is of small importance to those who know that reincarnation is a basic law of nature and that there is no death. Who will arrest aggressive selfishness if men and women of goodwill rest back upon their idealism and do naught that is practical. EOH 232+
All true and good people are pacifically minded and all hate war. This is a fact which academic idealist and pacifist often forget. These idealists contend that thoughts of peace and love can end the war. War can be and is mass murder where the motive is wrong. It can be sacrifice and right action where the motive is right. The slaying of a man in the act of killing the defenseless is not regarded as murder. The death of the physical body is a lesser evil than the setting back of civilization. War is always evil, but it can be the lesser of two evils. Right thought can save the world, but there are not enough people "able to think" to do this work. The thoughts of peace are mainly founded upon a stubborn idealism that loves the ideal more than humanity. EOH 179+
Christ's work has been greatly hindered by the sweet sentimentality of the unthinking Christian and by the well meaning, but often unintelligent pacifist. Both of these groups would sacrifice the future of humanity to temporary methods of "being nice" or "being kind" or taking gentle measures. EOH 476
