T.N.G. SIGNS OF THE TIMES - N.M. December 14, 2001 (#102)
Greetings from Russell's Remnant: www.oocities.org/dkone_us
Excerpts from an Esoteric Hierarchial Teacher’s Handbook: Most of the following instructions were taken from the works of D.K. and Morya. The rest came from Russell Whitesell, Satchidananda, Sri Aurobindo, Lao Tzu, the Bible, and other scriptures and esoteric texts. They were gathered over many years and synthesized down into concise messages that can be used by the teacher, the senior disciples and the wise man or woman whose job it is to guide others along this difficult Path. This job in not easy. In fact, one of Russell’s senior disciple’s told Russell that he wanted to teach like Russell had done. Russell replied, “No you don’t. It is a thankless job fraught with many bitter, arrogant, ignorant and ungrateful students. You’ll be sorry you want to be a Teacher like me. It’s a painful job.”

Learn to do the right thing as you see it irrespective of the opinions of the earth’s greatest and most quoted. An aspirant must depend upon himself and his own conclusions. Here is where so many fail. They do not do the very best they know. They leave undone certain things or fail to speak the word when needed. In these unaccomplished details the big failures are seen. There are no trifles in the life of the disciple - an unspoken word or unfulfilled action may prove the factor which is holding a man from initiation. The quality which produces the greatest number of failures in the work is cowardice.
The spiritual thought of one brother of pure intent is of far greater potency than that of many brothers who follow the tendencies of the personality.
Since the thought forms represent karma to be worked out, the elimination of these forms from the field of the disciple can save lifetimes of incarnated effort. Be reminded that to compress thousands of years of normal evolution into a few years, or even lifetimes, requires effort, some danger, and above all, endurance.
The true teacher must deal in truth and in sincerity with all seekers. His time is too valuable to waste in social politeness or in refraining from making critical comment where a good purpose would be served. He must depend thoroughly upon the sincerity of those whom he teachs.
Your enemy determines your importance just as a shadow depends on the size of the object. Do not be especially concerned about the enemies nor regard them with disdain. One is brought to light by the shade of great enemies. Never is a Teaching elevated by its friends. Each mission is antagonistic to old logic.
Suffering is the fastest horse on the road to perfection, and pain the ultimate liberator of the spirit.
The general mental equipment of the average aspirant and disciple is inadequate to the task.
Each Teacher rejoices at the limitless beauty of the far-off worlds and suffers over the stunted stupidity of incarnated bipeds. Beyond this stony load of stupidity they must still pass the venomous slime of doubt and the terror of self-conceit. Then a great log shall fall on the napes of their necks; and, tumbling down the stairs, these snails will dream of clinging at least to the lowest step.
Whoever loves precise knowledge must know how to receive it. Many talk of their devotion to precise knowledge, but in practice they clothe each fact in the motley rags of prejudice. They do not sense the unreality of their own premises. They would revolve the Universe according to the digestive state of their own stomach. They reject the most apparent manifestation if it does not conform to their mood.
There is a tendency to regard esoteric teaching as necessarily abstruse and indirect. Yet the more advanced the teaching, very frequently the more simply is it expressed. Abstruseness is related to the ignorance of the student - not the mode of presentation of the teacher.
It is not possible for anyone under the degree of accepted disciple to find out much.
Few people care to face the actual truth, for it involves; eventually, the abandonment of the beloved glamour and the ability to recognize error and to admit mistakes.
Where glamour is present in a disciple's life, it places a real strain upon his co-disciples.
As I work with you I shall not wrap up the truths for you in such a way that they cannot hurt. I shall not consider your personality feelings - I count on your sincerity of purpose. It is not a negative thing to point out a fault or error. If you are depressed, irritated or hurt by such revelations, it indicates a basic lack of dispassion and proves attachment to personality and the opinions of others.
People who bear brotherly cooperation can be observed from early childhood. They have a high power of observation. They are not satisfied with mediocrity and stand apart, eschewing commonly accepted enjoyments. They bear within themselves some sort of inner task. They can see much and make a conscious note of it. Usually compassionate, they are indignant at grossness of conduct. They are concentrated upon their favorite subjects; and they are surrounded by envy and malevolence, since they are not understood and remain alien among people. It is not easy to live one's life with an uplifted consciousness, as it cannot be content amidst the general denial of everything that leads toward Light. Often they are unrecognized. Theirs is a dream that comes from afar.
People do not want knowledge. What they seek is satisfaction with their own system of thinking.
What is known to be undesirable to the wise man may appear to be justice to the ordinary man.
There is no reason to expect that truth, however great, will prevail with large classes of men born and bred in the opposite falsity. They are organic and iron-clad against it. Being well-banded hosts, they support each other with confirmations of multitude and cannot be reached by instruction.
A man often puts a saddle on a cow and later is amazed when others, on horseback, outrun him.
Can you possibly wish to resemble the cardinals who opposed Galileo?
One must not wait until the messenger hurts his hand from knocking.
In Kurdistan there is a ruin called "the castle of errors." It is said that the castle was built by error, its location was chosen by error, the owner married by error, conducted wars by error, had councilors by error, gambled by error, fell ill by error, and perished by error. Only a certain amount of errors can be tolerated!
I visit miracles, but people do not perceive them. I provide new stars, but the light does not alter human thought. I sink countries, but human consciousness remains stilled. I erect mountains and Teachings of Truth, but people do not even turn their heads. I send war and pestilence, but even terror does not impel people to think. I offer knowledge, but people make gruel. I have no further signs to hold humanity from destruction.
Whatever you do affects your group - either constructively or adversely.
Fiery people's sensitivity to their surroundings produces pain that remains unnoticed by others.
Only out of love is born the reverence which creates discipline. But few love the one who helps them. It means that ignorance is great.
The person upon whom the group life turns is the one who pays the price of any group weakness. The expression of the group attitude finds its outlet in him and he is practically "killed" at times by the group. The leader of the new groups are usually pure new age types. This accounts for the failure of the group to understand him or to cooperate with the new ideals desired. The leader is a pioneer in the new thought and therefore suffers the penalties of his daring and spirit. Group criticism (especially of the leader) is usually rooted in jealousy, thwarted ambition, pride or individual intellect. The more highly evolved the group leader, the greater the pain and suffering. Christ was not only killed by his enemies, but his friends. Meanwhile, the leader must continue the work, retreat within himself, speak the truth with love, refuse to be bitter over the pain; and wait until the group members learn cooperation, silence, loving appreciation and understanding about the group leader's problems. Group drains the life of its leader.
Remember that your only value is group determined.
Go forward knowing that though few listeners hear and few see; yet Space sees and hears. Thus proceed.
