T.N.G. SIGNS OF THE TIMES - N.M. April 27, 2006  (#156)

Greetings from Russell's Remnant:                                                                                  www.oocities.org/dkone_us

Pray Without Ceasing

In the Hindu religion, there is a mantrum which says "SO HAM" - I am He.

Or "He - I" - So Ham.

The breath repeats SO HE as it goes in and HAM I as it goes out, making it clear that the He who is immanent is that “I” that is the resident.  If this simple truth, which is being dinned all the 24 hours of the day does not alert you or your real task, how can you understand your Reality by the mere study of books?

Some believe that our breath repeats the “so ham” or “ham so” with each breath.  If so then one could begin to understand how one can fulfill the admonition of "pray without ceasing."

The Bible includes several passages which draw our attention to the need of keeping our mind upon God. Each of these passages may not explain the whole task, but they do give us some idea about what we must do. On one occasion, one of Russell's disciples was telling him of how often he finds himself saying a mantra several times during each day. Russell just looked at the disciple and said with a stern look, "Pray without ceasing." He was not impressed with saying a mantra a few times each day.

Matt. 4:17 ... for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Matt.6:24 No man can serve two masters ... ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Matt.6:34 Take no thought for the morrow...

Luke 17:21 ... the kingdom of God is within you.

John 10:34 ... ye are Gods.

Rom. 8:7-8 ... the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God; neither, indeed, can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Rom. 12:2 ... be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind ...

2 Cor. 13:11 Be perfect ... be of one mind ...

Gal.4:19 ... I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you.

Eph. 5:23 This is a great mystery but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Phil. 2:5-6 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. Who being in the form of God, thought it not

robbery to be equal with God.

1 Thes. 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

Jas. 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Ps.46:10 Be still and know that I am God ...

This last passage was one of Russell's favorites. He once whispered to a member of the class,"This

sounds like something I would have said." This always confounded the TNG class members because Russell knew all the major prophets of the Old Testament. He also was called the Whiz Kid of the Hierarchy because of his ability to prophecy.

One holy man stated that “Most people pray to God as if He were a cosmic bellhop called on to do their bidding.”
