  Baptist Church

                      A missions-minded church

                     because Christianity is a journey

Grace Baptist Church was founded in the Fall of 1998 by a group of Christians with a heart for missions, both at home and around the world. It was decided while the church was being formed that a standard would be set: twenty-five percent across-the-board towards missions. When placing the money directly into the field to assist in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, it was felt that God would surely honor the sacrifice of what would normally be the salary of one staff member at Grace.

Contributions are distributed throughout a variety of areas, ranging from the remote parts of South Africa, the jungles of Thailand, and even the “strip” of Las Vegas, NV. It is understood that anywhere outside of the comforts of home is a mission field. Even then, modern technology enables the home to become useful in ministering to local communities and the world.

Tentative plans are to participate in at least one group project each year, with the majority of the funding coming from faith and love offerings, as well as contributions from local businesses and industries.

Fervent intercessory prayer is a vital part of our mission focus. We firmly believe it is the key to successful missions efforts.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.—Philippians 4:6 NASB

John Piper from

Prayer, The Work of Missions...

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide; so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. —John 15:16-17

The logic is crucial. Why is the Father going to give the disciples what they ask in Jesus' name? Answer: Because they have been sent to bear fruit. The reason the Father gives the disciples the gift of prayer is because Jesus has given them a mission. In fact, the grammar of John 15:16 implies that the reason Jesus gives them their mission is so that they will be able to enjoy the power of prayer. "I send you to bear fruit so that whatever you ask the Father . . . he may give you."

Our First Trip to the Field

On August 27, 2000 seven men from the congregation departed on a trip to the western section of Romania. The  mission was to finish restoration of a church located in the village of Seliste, Romania. God provided exceedingly abundantly beyond expectations as preparations were made for this trip: spiritually, physically, and monetarily. The life of every man involved was changed forever as they observed the power of the Holy Spirit at work in a foreign land. Sent by God, sustained by His grace….

Mures Valley Return 2001

Current Project in Motion...

As part of an ongoing relationship with the Mures Valley Mission in Romania, one member returned to the area in February on a mission of ministry and evangelism, as well as strategically initiating plans for the return of a group later this year. The departure date is targeted for the first part of October.

˛˛˛

The trip will be a multi-faceted arrangement of visitation, education, and light construction. There will be nightly meetings in villages scattered throughout the valley where participants in the mission will be delivering messages from the Word of God and testimonies of how He has changed their lives. Visitation to local homes, hospitals, doctor’s clinics, and schools will be going on throughout the day, spreading and sharing the love of Christ. There will be some light construction and fix-up work for ones who want to serve in that capacity.

˛˛˛

A major focus on this mission is the purchase of a house for a Romanian pastor (see picture below) in order to place him in the center of several villages he serves. He currently travels many miles in order to minister to his people. The cost of the house is around $8500 and will need very little work. Funding for the house will be above and beyond the cost to send individuals on the trip.
