From our base in Stratford-on-Avon west of London, we spent a day touring
the town and the Cotswolds. Bruce had a buddy of his lead a tour of the
area; I toured on my own. The first few photos in the table
show what the town is like. The streets here are mostly wider than
in a many of the other Cotswold towns. The older buildings look a
lot like they're about to fall down!
Here are some photos of the roads in the Cotswold region. The
first shows the map I used to explore the area. Got it from one of
the many "Information" offices in the area. Usually there is at least
one per town or city in the UK and it's a good source for a map of the
area around the town and nearby attractions. The next photo shows
one of the secondary roads - a bit wider than a normal English car.
Rolling, lushly green country and great roads for bikers. The third
shows a wider road, one of the primary roads that has two full-sized lanes
for traffic, leading to a town with an interesting name..
Here's another town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold. Actually,
the main street is of a decent size, but the side streets are narrow.
I had lunch in the outdoor cafe of the ominously-named Old Stocks Hotel.
I didn't see any stocks, but then again, I did pay my lunch tab.
