You've probably heard the terms "snapshot" and "photograph" used without thinking too much about their meanings. However, they are often considered to be two different things. A "Snapshot" is generally a photograph made in a situation in which the photographer has no control over the lighting, the subject, the background, etc. The Photographer is simply "there" recording a person or event. These pictures demonstrate clearly some of the limitations of "snapshots." People's heads getting in the way, insufficient time to maneuver for the best angle, less than ideal lighting, and so on. Yet it is still possible to get "good" quality snapshots. In the photos above, the focus is fairly clear, the lighting isn't bad (just less than ideal) and you can clearly see the subjects. These pictures won't win any photo contests, but they make for good memories. |
