Meet Mr. Puppy. He was a stray that we took in after
an unfortunate situation. My son heard a dog screaming one cold
morning in Dec. '96. He went out and my dogs were fighting with
a dog. Apparently he got too close to the fence and my dogs
pulled him through. I had to leave work to take him to the vet.
I had never seen this dog around and did not know who he
belonged to. The vet said the good news was his neck had
just a few scratches, but the bad news was that his tail was
shredded. The vet had to remove it completely, no nub, nothing.
He was worried that there could be nerve damage and would not
be able to urinate. After a week at the vet, I brought him home.
People could not understand why I did this for a stray.
They said I should have put him to sleep. It wasn't his fault
he was running loose, it was his owners. At least he now has
a safe home. Mr. Puppy gets along well with the other dogs.
His favorite doggie friend is Blue.
Here he is with his haircut. His hair was getting matted,
so I took him to the vet to get bathed and combed out. In the
process the vet noticed his feet were infected because of his
long hair. So we had him shaved.
We are lucky to have Mr. Puppy. Someone lost
a very smart dog. He can sit, stay and loves to chase balls
and toys. Only problem is, when he fetches a ball, he brings
it back, but if you try to get the ball from him, he runs.
He usually takes the ball into one of the sheds he sleeps in.
He probably does it so Rosie won't get it.
