This easy-to-read modern tablature should be completely faithful to Francois Campion's original tablature. Let me know of any errors you find. Donald Sauter.

Short ID: FC3. Title: Allemande. Composer: Francois Campion. Source: Nouvelles decouvertes sur la Guitarre. Page 6. Date: 1705. Facsimile: Minkoff (1977), page 20. Tuning: Bb D G C F (tuning 1). Time sig: C with slash ("cut time" symbol). Fixes and modifications (M=measure r=rhythm s=string): M8r1 original showed 4er. Changed here to 8th so following notes will fit in measure. But something is amiss. If Campion had intended an 8th here, he would not have written 8th symbol for the next note, which he did.) M16r6s1 shows extraneous "no strum" dot. (There is no strum here.) Tablature elements to be added by hand: Slur: M2 r5-6s3. Take a moment to fill out the 16th-note beam. Strums: Arrowheads ^ and v indicate strums. Open strings in strummed chords were not shown in the tablature; add as many open strings as sound good. It's worth re-drawing the ^ arrowhead right at the top of the associated stem, just under the beam if a beam is present. Repeat path: repeat from m24 back to m12r5. Explanation of symbols: " = trill (starting on upper neighbor). , = mordent (main note to lower neighbor and back to the main note). . = do not strum this string in the chord. z = rest. Fill in to make a solid block. Performance style: consider playing the piece inegales, that is, with dotted 8ths or "swing" 8ths (triplet feel). Leading measures in Campion's original tablature: 1 5 8 11 14 17 20 23. Last measure is 24. *** Download and edit out all material above and below the tablature. *** See my printing tips in the page, "General comments on the tablature." *** Print out starting with the title line below.
