If this can be of assistance... Baruch HaShem A Jew comes to Faith in Y'shua (Jesus)
I. Introduction A. Be prepared to give an answer for the hope that lies within.. (1 Peter 3:15) B. Presenting Y'shua (Jesus) as our Messiah 1. Each Scripture like a piece to a puzzle 2. Putting all pieces together - Scriptures show Y'shua(Jesus) C. The Great Commission is not the "great convincing." 1. Can't argue one into The Kingdom of God 2. Only by Lord's leading in what to say and when to say it
II. Testimony A. Miraculously surviving car crash catalyst/searching the Scriptures B. Saw "Christian" concepts in Tenach and "Jewish" concepts in NT C. Why did I read the New Testament? Curiousity 1. Taught Jesus not for Jewish people despite Jesus being a Jew 2. Different experiences from ones who claimed to be Christian a. One group says God loves the Jew (Jesus laid down life) b. Other group says God hates Jew stating Jews killed Jesus c. Wanted to read NT to see what "Christians" thought 3. Who killed Jesus? Answer Y'shua died for all - He laid down His life (2 Cor 5:15) D. Last objection to believing in Jesus - what was done in His Name Realized that the belief is in Jesus not the belief in the BELIEVERS in Jesus. I accepted Y'shua as Messiah and Lord
III. Y'shua (Jesus) in Tenach (Old Testament) A. Theophany many appearances in the Tenach - a few shown here 1. Theophany - a visable appearing of God to man 2. Gen 16:10 who can multiply God's descendents except God? 3. Gen 48:16 (who can redeem from all evil except for God? 4. Ezekiel 1:26-28 a fiery brightness that had a human shape 5. Many appearings of one in Tenach who acts in a capacity in which only God Himself can be in - another ex Jud 2:1-5 B. A Composite Unity? A Tri-Une God? In the OT? Yes 1. What about first two verses in the Bible? a. Gen 1:1 God Gen 1:2 Spirit of God b. already establishes One God as a Composite Unity 2. I as a Jew can believe in the NT account of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit when a. In our Tenach shows God, Son (Preincarnate appearances of Messiah) and the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh) b. Son of God in the Bible? Yes. Read Proverbs 30:4 c. Tri-Unity? Yes read Isa 48:16 shown with God/Holy Spirit d. One born yet who pre-existed Isa 9:6, Micah 5:2 C. Tenach predicts suffering yet born Messiah would endure 1. publically mocked Ps 22:6-8 2. stripped naked Ps 22:17 3. gambling for his clothes Ps 22:18 4. the vinegar Ps 69:21 5. final cry from the cross Ps 22:1 6. unbroken bones Ps 34:20 7. the piercing of His Side Zech 12:10 8. the darkness Ps 22:2 9. His broken heart Ps 22:14 10 burial in the borrowed tomb of a rich man Isa 53:9 11 His resurrection from the dead Ps 16:10 Hosea 6:2, Ps 30:3,9; Isa 53:10
IV. Answers to some objections (FYI only - Only as The Lord leads) A. Objection #1 Denying sinful nature or are sinners Response: Scripture Isa 59:2,12 Eccl 7:20, Psa 51:5, Psa 14:3, Psa 53:3, Psa 130:3, Psa 143:2, Prov 20:9, Isa 64:6 Jer 14:20, Jer 17:9 2 Chron 6:36 B. Objection #2 Stating Messiah is just a man Response: Scripture - The Lord is our Savior Isa 43:11, Isa 49:26 C. Objection #3 Stating Y'shua has influenced, forced, or faked the fulfillment of predictions Response: The Romans, who crucified Y'shua at the urging of the corrupt religious leaders, had not yet adopted the Assyrian practice of crucifixion when these first prophecies were first written. In other words, the Old Testament Prophets, writing hundreds of years before the fact, described Y'shua's death by crucifixion with impossibly detailed accuracy even though crucifixion was still unknown in Israel. D. Objection #4 Afterlife? Where in Tenach does it show that? Response: Scripture Dan 12:2, Job 19:25,26, Psa 49:15 E. Objection #5 Afraid of what people will think Response: Scripture Prov 29:25 "fear of man brings a snare."
V. Conclusion A. If you're a believer in Y'shua, may I pray there's at least one thing you picked up here that The Lord used to strenghen your faith and can be used to share with others who need to hear the Good News of Messiah B. If you have not yet accepted Y'shua as Messiah, what's holding you back?
