JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES ARE TAUGHT |
THE BIBLE TEACHES |
Jesus is not ' The God ' ' The title ho theos[The God, or God], which now designates the Father as a personal reality, is not applied in the N[ew] T[estament] to Jesus Himself... ' (Watchtower, July 1, 1986 p.31, footnote) |
Oh, Yes He is ' The God ' And Thomas answered and said to Him, " My Lord and My God. " (ho theos)* Jesus said to him, " Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe. " (John 20: 28-29) * actual literal greek wording of John 20: 28 found in The Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures (from Westcott and Hort Greek Text) published by The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society Of New York, Inc.1969 reads as follows. 'Answered Thomas and he said to him The Lord of me and the God of me' |
Jesus (The Word) is a'secondary god' who was with 'The God' in the beginning In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was 'a god' (John 1:1, p.1327 (*New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures, 1984) *NWT |
Jesus (The Word) was with God (The Father) and was God at the same time in the beginning because there is only One God In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1) ( today's most accepted translations) Is anything too hard for the Lord... (Genesis 18:14a) "See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me:" (Deuteronomy 32:39) (Even the NWT has this verse like this, " See now that I- I am he and there are no gods together with me.") |
