After tentatively accepting her boyfriend's marriage proposal, Michi finds she is unsure of what to do and how she really feels about getting married and her life in general. The students whom she teaches don't respect her, and she's frequently scolded by other staff for not being an appropriate educator. Hikaru is frustrated with his relationship with his single mother who expects him to take over the hospital she in charge of and has already been expelled from several different schools for his bad behaviour. He and Michi have a chance encounter when he nearly hits her on his motorcycle, and later he discovers that she is to be his new homeroom teacher when he transfers to his new school.
After Hikaru has transferred to Michi's class, they continue to have various encounters with each other, and find that they share the common bond of feeling trapped by society and family. It's this bond that leads them to develop an interest in each other which deepens into love. What follows is a story of forbidden love in which the two characters must face society's judgement for their "shocking" behaviour and for disappointing all those around them. After nearly ripping everything and everyone in their lives apart, will the characters manage to find the freedom they need to be happy?
