Gods, Goddesses, and Mystical Beings

The God and Goddess of Wicca

This page is to tell you of all of the Gods, Goddesses, and Mystical Beings that I have heard of or found fasinating. They involve the Arch Two Wiccan Deities, Roman, Greek, Celtic, etc. Pretty much everything but it'll take me a while to get all of them up. Most of these figures are from fairytales of when I was growing up. The others are deities and such that I learned about.

The Goddess: Many people call her mother earth. She is the maiden, mother, and crone. She cycles as does the seasons. Some have seen her as a voluptuous woman with a kind heart and tender face while others have seen her as a slender and lithe beauty. I see her as the beauty I've also wished to become. A tall woman with blonde hair and blue eyes, she has a loving heart that easily forgives but also as a fierce protector of those she loves. Some wiccan religions only base off of her alone and don't place in the God. Personally, I like it with both of them involved because I love the love story between the two and I also believe that everything must have a yin and a yang. Balance-the main theme of Wicca.
Alternate names that people have called her: Diana, Queen of witches, Gaia, Geia, Eve, Mother Earth, Artemis, etc.

The God: He is the consort/companion to the Goddess and is the master of the hunt. His job is to watch the animals in the woods. It was there that he originally saw the Goddess bathing and fell in love with her. He also came to her when she stood in the woods. He is seen by many as half man with antlers on his head and fur on his legs. I see him as a tall man with brown hair and brown eyes. Lithe and strong, gentle and commanding.

Alternate Names: Herne, Adam, Apollo, The Horned One, Father Sky, God of the Hunt, Master of Animals, etc.

The Daughter Aradia: Some of the Wiccan Practices believe that the God and Goddess had a child named Aradia that came down to earth just like in Christianity. Her name was Aradia and she was in Scotland. She stood up for the women there and I liked her so much that I carved a statue out of her and gave it to a coven to keep. I see her as a woman in her twenties with long brown hair and slightly voluptuous but not terribly so.

Roman and Greek Gods and Goddesses

Diana/Artemis/Selena/The Virgin Huntress/Goddess of the Moon/Goddess of the Hunt: She would have to be my favorite of Roman/Greek mythology. She was the Goddess of the hunt and of the moon. She is the twin sister to Apollo and was born on an island called Delos. She was said to never let a man watch her bath or else her dogs would shread him to pieces. She was also said to fall in love with a man named Endomynion. (yeah, that's right for anyone that's a Sailor Moon fan-the japanese translation of Selena is Serena-they mix the l's and r's).
Apollo/Lucifer/God of the Sun and Music: He is the God of the Sun and was known for being a musical God. He is the twin brother of Diana and was also born on the Island Delos, which is right next to Mykonos if anyone wishes to visit it. There is a story that he fell in love with Delphne and that she had turned herself into a tree to run away from him.

Athena/Pallas Athena/Minerva/The Goddess of Wisdom: She is the Goddess of Wisdom and Spinning. There was once a large temple made for her worship in Athens and several plays were made about it. She was also a virgin goddess and her priestesses of today are sworn virgins as they attend her temple. There is a story of how she was born from Zeus alone and came out of his head during a headache, full grown and in armor. She was involved in the falling of Troy and is known for her strategies of war.

Mars/Ares/God of War: He is the God of War. He was said to be the lover of Venus and he was involved in the falling of Troy. Anyone that has seen Xena or Hercules on T.V. has seen stuff about him all of the time.

Venus/Goddess of Love: She is the Goddess of love and the mother of Eros (the messenger/god of love). She had a thing with Mars but I'm not sure too much on that. She was the winner of the three women that Paris had to give the apple to and she gave the Garder of beauty to the leader of the amazons: hippocrytle(i think that's how it's spelt).
