A NIGHT AT THE FAIR
late July; page created August 2001
It was a warm summer day when they got there and discovered they were not the only ones with the idea to visit the Fair.  They only had a few hours to see everything, and so they got moving right away, bypassing the many food tents for the cool animals.  First they saw the Birds of Prey exhibit, which featured some pretty impressive looking characters.
One night back in late July, Amy and Greg decided to go off to the
Barnstable County Fair
I have to admit, I schemed about how to go along, but I just could't make it work this time.  It's been such a busy summer, I was happy to have a peaceful night to sleep.
Next they met this little elephant, who looked like he might be growing bored with the idea of giving kids rides.  And then there was Hugh, a very friendly camel.  There were also pens with a variety of other animals (so it's probably a good idea that I stayed home).  It doesn't surprise me at all that Ame and Curly were very popular with everyone there.
Curly says it was hard to take a picture of the piglets, as they were being fed.  He said they reminded him of me.  I'm not sure exactly what he means by that...they do seem to enjoy good food, though!!
They strolled quickly through the Horticultural exhibits, where Amy got ideas for next year's North Forty...
...and then they were off to the Midway and all the rides...where they heard, amongst the music and mechanical noises, the magic question, "Fried Dough, anyone?"
