I want to start off by apologizing if anyone has any conflicts with the new layout of the page. I only have the means (And the patience) to try it out on my own computer, so the rest of you are just out of luck, my friends. Even if I'm the only one who views the site correctly, the pseudo-Nintendo scheme makes me giggle, so I'm going to keep it.
The first week of school has been mind-boggling long, but not very tough. We've abandoned homework for the night in favor of watching Akira on DVD. That said, you'll have to excuse me if I leave this update for now and go enjoy some animated violence.

Tomorrow - Ah, tomorrow! Tomorrow, I have only my 10AM Physics class and I'm finished for the day. Tomorrow - Best Buy tells me - we will have another copy of Unreal Tournament for premium LAN playing. Tomorrow, I have ten million things I want to get done.
I decided right away that I wanted to join the Society of Physics Students and get "in the loop" as quickly as humanly possible. I'm not afraid to brown-nose and ingratiate, so your mockery falls on deaf ears. I've also learned of a project known as STARBASE supported and partially-funded by NASA herself. Western has begun to put together a space-oriented scientific research organization for undergraduate students such as myself. Over the next two years, one of the professors here will be working directly with NASA to launch a rocket into the mesosphere. Over the next two years. I don't think I have to tell you how quickly I will run to wait outside his office door and sign up.

Obviously by the time you read this I'll have my ResNet up and running, but at the time of this typing I am without Internet connectivity! VooDoo and Curses, no! Apparantly there's something odd with this old building that causes them to take forever turning the network back on. I am of the belief, however, that this is a punishment from our hall director because we failed to enthusiastically "jump and shake our booties" at the official hall meeting. Meh...we're an apathetic and unrhythmic eighth floor. Sue us.
There are a great number of things I enjoy about this dorm, but there are also a number of things I do not enjoy about it. I do not enjoy the meager curtains that cover our toilets and showers because they're not wide enough to do so adequately. I do not entirely enjoy the fact that our bathrooms provide only hand dryers instead of paper towels. The lobby and hallways are also a hair on the hot side. But man...that misfit water pistol...WOO!

But it's all good. We've got Tom Jones and we have Jackson 5. I have a crazy epileptic blue light that flashes in the corner of my eye which makes me smile. If I didn't tell you previously, the fifteen dollar web cam which I spoke of in my last post is now taking up residence in a garbage can because it no longer works. To alleviate the non-cam dificulties, my father bought me a brand new web cam. It's much better (It's the same one you got, Jo!) Here is an example of its keen-ness:
UPDATE One of WKU's finest stopped by while we were tinkering with my car and got it running. It seems to be doing good now, but if something does go wrong, at least it's in a non-towing kind of a place. Excellent.
Everything seems to be cool thusfar. Our dorm room is the, indeed, a rocking kind of a place. Since we chose not to bring 36'' televisions and all kinds of crazy things, we also have quite a bit of space. But two outlets! We only have two wall outlets! We have two wall outlets and one of the plugs is broken in each outlet! We have one plug apiece! This may not be kosher, but we've strung together quite a few extension cords and gotten the place up and running. We may trip a breaker if we use the microwave, but everything's cool at the moment.
Even that won't be a problem for too long, though. Sometime in December we'll move out of this dorm and into the newly-remodeled one next door. It'll be essentially the same, but the RA said we'll have carpet and more plugs. Keen.
I'm going to quit rambling because I'm tired and you won't be able to read this until we get our network stuff tomorrow.
