INDEPENDENCE DAY - THE MOVIE

"Independence Day" (the Movie) was not spectacular enough to justify the hype for several reasons:

-In the movie, when the officials of the United States knew that there was a definite invasion from another force, they did not do anything, but sat around worrying sick like a group of helpless sheep. And after aliens invaded the earth, the official still sat around and got their intelligence sources from television.

-The United States had nothing to defend itself with except for the F-16s and one single missile that was fired from the ground.

-It made no sense when the president of the United States - in time of chaos - jumped on a fighter plane and flew into the combat zone. Now, wouldn't you agree the president of a country would be more valuable as a commander than a fighter pilot?

-A person could have realized that a movie is bad when an once-famous actor like Jeff Goldblum has a supporting role, while a teen age comedian who wears his hat backward like Wille Smith plays a super hero.

There are many more reasons that made the movie dull. The general indicator is that when the audiences keep checking their watch and wonder how come the movie was too long, then you know the movie had some serious problems.
