STAR WARS, PRE-"THE PHANTOM MENACE"
THE EXPLOITATION OF STAR WARS
During the last decade, every other year, Lucas and company squeezed a little more money from movie-goers with their so-called newer versions of the Star Wars movies.
The latest, per Lucas, was that there would be additional 4 1/2 minutes of new material, which probably were not good enough to make it to the original version of the movie. Without prior knowledge and without the state-of-the-art sound system, movie-goers would hardly be able to recognize additional material. Yet one year it was "remastered the sound." The next year would be "re-digitized the visual effect." The scheme continues year after year.
Although the movies undoubtedly are good, enough is enough. Lucas and company should stop their silly exploitation, and concentrate on the new movies instead.
