The Color of Happiness
I guess I didn't know that I forever wanted you
in those red silk pajamas
with only
one black button hooked
or that
stunning sparkling dress
of marvelous deep blue-black and
silver accented
or just you
in your beautiful skin, tanned
and with
striking white space
We walked arm-linked
through a red and green lit lane
and the cool air was brightened by
white moon light
I was the color of happiness then
I kissed you under a fading tomorrow
it was the last time. . .
I can see you there now
in the distance
dancing in a crowd of green
and my mind sways back to a time when
we touched in your room beneath
a star that cast us in blue
And I miss you as I lie
in the gray shadows of midnight
thinking of all the words and things
I would change
if I could
if I could
