DOUGAL

‘Funk-rock with a slight touch of ambience’. A Mystical Musical Menagerie of Music.

What is Dougal?

For the past year DOUGAL have been making their sound heard in Stafford & the surrounding areas. The name DOUGAL has continually grown, as has the reputation for giving excellent shows/performances.

This six piece band is extremely tight and together, which allows their own particular style of music to cruise effortlessly through one ear drum, alert ones senses, then exit through the other. Yes an experience it is to witness DOUGAL.

Their music supplies constant variety, it is thought provoking in its unique funky style. DOUGAL are almost certainly one of the most animated bands one is ever likely to see. Fun can definitely be assured at a DOUGAL gig, if ones willing to that is, of course, ahem!

Band History

Dougal form in 1997 with the meeting of founding members James ‘The Sheep’ Woodhams and Lee Bobo Godsall at North Warwickshire Technical College, Nuneaton. Soon joined by James ‘The Eskimo’ Affleck and Paul Spider Pierson the quartet began practising acoustic material in a tiny practice room at the college.

Later in the year drummer Jamey Radmall joined the band. At this point the band decided to go electric, and have never looked back. Due to differences in the band Jamey Radmall soon decided to quit the band, leaving Dougal high and dry with no drummer for their forth coming gig. Fortunately Mr Rick ‘The Moleman’ Vaughan joined to save the day. After a successful two-year stint playing many venues around Warwickshire, the founding members of Dougal decided they would like to take a more professional approach to the band. Mr Rick ‘The Moleman’ Vaughan however, decided to take a more realistic look at life and pursued a family and a career in Technical Electronics.

With a more professional view in mind the four remaining members of Dougal moved into a house in Stafford where they could practice and record their music and generally put more time into their project. This proved difficult with out a drummer. After a few frustrating months the band met up with current drummer Wolfman de Marcos Willets.

As the band wanted to concentrate more on their playing and less on the organising of gigs they enlisted the help of Lee Ford. Lee has been very successful in creating gigs for Dougal to play in and around Staffordshire.

Dougal have played many gigs in Stafford since their arrival in 2000, and now seem to have developed a band of loyal followers who seem to turn up to gigs just about anywhere.
