The following translations of Chapter 18 by the Good News Bible, the Contemporary English Version, and the New Century Version arrive at interpretations unwarranted by the text itself and these interpretations are included as translation without noting that they are interpretations. There is no justification in the text to interject the Ethiopian soldiers will be killed and left as food for the animals in the air and on earth for instance. In fact the Ethiopians specifically are not suggested directly by the received text, only those who live beyond the rivers of Cush, likely the Egyptians or Nubians north of the rivers that divide the land. Cush may include Ethiopia and likely does, but it also includes Sudan, Eritrea, and Somalia. Rather than translate the LORD of Hosts of Heaven as such, these versions ignore the significant reference to Jesus as LORD Sabaoth by translating the text as LORD All-Powerful or LORD Almighty. These versions provide preferable translations of some words though and provide a contrast and comparison to other translations.

6They shall be left together to the fowls of the mountains, and to the beasts of the earth: and the fowls shall summer upon them, and all the beasts of the earth shall winter upon them. |

7in tempore illo deferetur munus Domino exercituum a populo divulso et dilacerato a populo terribili post quem non fuit alius a gente expectante expectante et conculcata cuius diripuerunt flumina terram eius ad locum nominis Domini exercituum montem Sion |
7In that time shall a present be brought to Yahweh of Hosts from a people tall and smooth, even from a people awesome from their beginning onward, a nation that measures out and treads down, whose land the rivers divide, to the place of the name of Yahweh of Hosts, Mount Zion. |
7At that time brought is a present to Jehovah of Hosts, A nation drawn out and peeled. Even of a people fearful from the beginning hitherto, A nation meting out by line, and treading down, Whose land floods have spoiled, Unto the place of the name of Jehovah of Hosts--mount Zion!' |
7In that time shall the present be brought to the LORD of hosts of a people scattered and peeled, and from a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation measured by line and trodden under foot, whose land the rivers have spoiled, to the place of the name of the LORD of hosts, the mount Zion. |
