For My Far-Away Friend

Once-only once in a while
a friend comes along
who understands so completely
gives so unselfishly, cares so deeply
a friend
you can talk with so comfortably
laugh with so freely
confide in so easily
and you realize no distance
can ever come between you
once in a while
a friend comes, who is so dearly treasured
so many thoughts can be said unsaid
when someone understands
so much can be accomplished
when somebody leads a hand
what a world of simple pleasures
what lovely times together to share
it's a wonderful life in many ways
when you've a friend who cares
you're such a dear and special friend
life's truest happiness is found
when you have a friend like you
It takes the summer, sun and rain
to make a garden grow
It takes the moon and the twinkling stars
to make the heaven glow
it takes a wish plus lots of work
to make a dream come true
and to make life really happy
it takes a friend like you.
