The set is an author's attempt to reflect the revolutionary
events in history of Moscow's history which took their places during the
time of Rurikoviches dinasty reign:the foundation of the wooden fortress
in1156; devastation and burning of Moscow by Baty-Khan in 1237;seizure
of the city by Polish army and burning in 1611.
All the pieces are executed in the manner of busts in order to
perform more precisly the smallest details of each figurine.

The King:
Yuri Dolgoruky(the founder of Moscow).His description in historjcal
literature was taken as the basis of the present image.The sun,
represented on his breast-plate, emphasizes his relation to Kievan Prices
(the image of the sun is being often found in theold russian literature
as a methaphore for one of the most famous Kievan Princes- Vladimir;The
Red Sun").On the back of the figurine one may see a variant of the
icon of St.George as a symbol of the Prince's relation to Moscow(St.Geoge
is considered to be heavenly patrone of Moscow).

The King:
Baty-Khan. On his breast there is a golden plate on whitch the furious
tiger is represented.This sign of the khan's power Baty-Khan had received
from his father-severe and fearless Juchy Khan,who had received it
in his time from Kingiz -Khan-his father.The tiger's head is to mention
of Kaghan's (kind of a parliament of Mongolian- Ta- tar's) commandment:"You
must obey comman- dments of a bearer of this plate as if it where us commanded".On
the back of the figurine there is a grey eagle,carrying a black raven.The
eagle was the patron of Kingiz-Khan's clan. |
The Queen:
The Russian Princess,who often performed an assistance in Prince's state
affairs.She symbolizes the revival of the city and the Moscovian Princedom.

The Queen:
One of the seven wifes of Baty-Khan-Yuldoos,who accompanied her husband
in the warfare to Rus.She was Baty-Khan's fovourite wife.Oh her mantel-there
are seven stars,which mean she was taken to the warfare as seventh,working("biak")wife.In
her head-there is a diademe from Tsargrad(Byzantium),presented to her by
the ambassadors of Russian,were killed by Baty-Khan. |
The Rook(1 st.):
A tower of the wooden Moscow Kremlin that was built by Yuri Dolgoruky,according
to the historical documents,when he had begun erection of the fortifications
at the bank of Moscow River.

J.Mongolian-Tatar armies leaded by Baty-Khan,the Kingis-Khan's grand-son,crossed
the Russian lands.Baty-Khan had burnt Moscow along with many Russian cities. |
The Rook(2 nd.):
One of the towers of the Moscow Kremlin(the Byelokamenny - whitestone),restored
after the no- nomad's invasion.

steppeland horse, tamed by the nomads.

A tent of Mongolian-Tatars.The roof of the tent is decorated with the images
of the selestial codies,moving around the heavens.These images reflect
Baty-Khan's desire to conquer the entire world,on the walis-there are Mongolian-Tatar's
symbols.

on its roof . On the walls there are: a Polish blogon , a
Lithuanian emblems , an element of Ukrainian Hetman`s Sahaydachny
blagon , basis element of polish geraldy . |

On the one side of the chess-deck there is the Vasily
Blazhenny Church-carved.
On the other-a variant of St.Jeorge"the Conqueror" or "The
Victor-Bearer".The front kind:Moscow Kremlin of 17 th-18 th centuries.All
the Bareliefs are surrounded with leaves-the symbol of the(unpassable)forests
of Rus.On the background there are waves represented,symbolizing numerous
water obstacles a host must overcome oa the way to Moscow. Numerous
is artificial small distance between chess fields is created, that also
means numerous water barrier on a way to Moscow.
