Getting to Know Youngstown
(Written by Marisa Houston. Interview date: 4-22-00)
With so many "boy bands" out there today, it's hard to keep track of
them.
Groups like the Backstreet Boys, N Sync, 98* and LFO have established such
huge careers for themselves which makes it hard for other groups to break in
without being compared. Well there is no comparing the guys of Youngstown.
They are nothing like any other of the pop ensembles around. Their debut
album, "Let's Roll", a release of Hollywood Records, is full of songs to get
you groovin' on the dance floor, but of course there are the soft and sensual
ballads that show the guys' romantic side.
Dallas commented on the issue,
"Just to let you know what kind of guys we are, we love to dance and perform
and everything, but we could actually do a whole show of nothing but ballads.
We're hopeless romantics."
The three guys, who met in Youngstown, Ohio, hence the name, have been
working together since they were teenagers. Now all in their early 20's,
they're doing their best to share their gift with the rest of the world. DC
and Dallas were in a group previous to Youngstown, called Part 4. But when
that group fizzled out, DC and Dallas stuck together. That's when they met
with the youngest member of Youngstown, Sammy. And the rest is all history.
Now the trio is headlining tours, doing numerous radio shows throughout the
country and working on getting their singles to the top. Youngstown already
has a VERY solid fan base and I'm sure things will be going their way in the
immediate future.
