GORGOROTH (NOR) "Destroyer" (1998) [NUCLEAR BLAST]
Great new release from this very prolific Norwegian band. This is their fourth "full-length" album (not so lengthy, however) that confirms the opinions had of the previous ones. Raw black-metal music filled with rotten voice and a lot of violence, recorded in a 80's way (that is to say noisy and raw) is what they offer. What we like of Gorgoroth's music is their skill to put together the old thrash/black stuff with some modern ideas and with a lot of class. What is original in Gorgoroth' s proposal is not the music itself but the sound they are able to create. And this skills has enhanced album after album. Surely they sell a lot but the impression that they play their music with the heart [black heart! -Ed] is out of the question.
