ORK (BUL) “Blessed by evil” (2000) [FOLTER RECORDS]
I do like the direct black metal approach of this band hailing from Bulgaria. Starting as a one-man devoted to raw black metal Ork is currently a solid five pieces still dedicated to freezing notes following the teaching of the Norwegian black metal bands, like f.e., Satyricon but sometimes also embracing Swedish death/black ones (one above all, Naglfar).
Under the German label Folter Records they released such a surprising debut album “Blessed by evil” that will probably make them known to the international crowd: they was able to get a fairly good production without loosing their direct black metal style.
Even, Ork is not a conventional black metal band mixing such different styles, heavy metal riffs and, fortunately, allowing only a tiny keyboards’ employ. I must specify I’m not a great fans of heavy metal solos into black metal but I believe it’s not a big deal Ork sometimes ignore this general structure like, for example, in the track “Black soul desire” where the guitarist performance will also please all the “heavy metal” fans out there!
Yeah, yeah…all of you, can find a reason to listen to “Blessed by evil”!
