THUNDRA (NOR) “Blood of your soul” [SPINEFARM] (2000)
Thundra features ex-members of Enslaved and Einherjer as weel as from a prog band. Therefore in their sound you can find “viking-metal” elements but also prog guitar riffs. Eventhough they handle their instruments really good they weren’t able to realise an interesting work as they mixed too many different styles (from pagan Viking metal and progressive to melodic black metal and death metal) in the inappropriate way so the CD turned out to be really chaotic and in the end it can makes the listener confused and a bit bored. Surely there are some parts I find interesting and enjoyable like, for example, in “Frozen Ground” where the evocative vocals reminds me Vintesorg and the experimental parts let me think the recordings in the same studio of the Arcturus’s debut album was not a case. Unfortunately these rare moments are soon forgotten into pandemonium…
Actually your collection will not miss it.
