ULVER (NOR) "Themes from William Blake's"
The marriage of heaven and hell" [JESTER RECORDS] Playing time: 101.16"
This work received a lot of critics only beacause it sounds too much strange to be called metal. Of course they are so far from metal but to me this is not a reason to judge it. Eccentricity could be a merit not a fault and about Ulver' last work I guess it's just in this way. Moreover Ulver has always been an out standing band so I can't really understand the reasons why people is so astonished by their sound. On the contrary I've really appreciated this piece of Art as it is the honest expression of feelings into music without bounds. These great musicians were able to translate an enchanting form of art, literature, into their own one that is music. So, this album is the perfect "marriage" between poetry and music through the sounds Ulver decided to employ. Of course, their research, supported also by other enigmatic musicians, Fenriz, Ihsahn, Samoth, who gave birth to the charming "A song of Liberty", wasn't surely limited about metal's context. Now it's up to you to choice if you want to lose this piece of Art, that of course it's only for opened-mind not. Wolves still remain wild; don't try to domesticate them!
