UNHOLY (FIN) "Gracefallen" [AVANTGARDE MUSIC] Playing, or time: 62.12"
The first thing I remarked when I listened to the new album of the obscure Finnish band Unholy was the massive use of female vocals that is nothing bad, on the contrary it adds elegance and "grace" to their depressed music that brings the listener into a dark/doom gracefallen. Of course their music sounds a bit more melodic than their early gloomy works and it's more similar to "Rapture" one but the typical elements of Unholy sound remain: their music is still melancholy and graceful as their female vocals, deep as their growl vocals, strong and depressive at the same time as their guitar riffs and insane as their keyboards parts. Unholy is an outstanding band and the dark jewel they present to us is not easy to define but I'm mostly agree with their label who describes it as avantgarde(!) doom metal.
