AYERS ROCK CONTINUED
After sunrise, we moved in closer for a tour of the Uluru (as the aborigines call it) and some of its water holes. Many of the markings on the rock (see the skull like shape to the left) are incorporated into Aborigine legend.
Although it is discouraged by the Aborigines, many people still make the strenuous climb to the top of the rock (we didn't).
Part of the wonder of Ayers Rock is watching how it changes color with the variations of cloud, shadow, and sunlight. Here you can see it from a distance.
