Bath Teas

Mix any of the following blends as dry ingredients. Stir well and stuff a metal tea ball or muslin bag with the blend. As you run your bath, place the tea ball or bag in the tub, under the running water. Then, relax and enjoy!

1 Cup Chamomile
1/4 Cup Comfrey
1/4 Cup Lavender
1/4 Cup Lemon Balm, or Lemon Verbana
1/2 Cup Peppermint
1/4 Cup Rosehips, Crushed
1/4 Cup Rosemary
1/4 Cup Sage

Days End
1/2 Cup Lavender
1/2 Cup Uncooked Oatmeal
1/4 Cup Dry Orange Peel
1/2 Cup Chamomile
1/4 Cup Rosemary
12 Bay Leaves, Crushed

Sports Relief
1 Cup Chamomile
12 Bay Leaves, Crushed
1/4 Cup Rose Petals
1/4 Cup Sage
1/4 Cup Rosemary
1/4 Cup Oregano


Apple Vanilla Simmer Pot

1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp whole cloves
1 tbsp vanilla
4 cinnamon sticks
8 drops apple scented oil
Boil in water on stove or potpourri burner


Apple Cider Spice Sachets

16 cinnamon sticks, broken into small pieces
4 whole nutmegs - crushed
1/2 cup whole cloves
1/2 cup dried orange zest
1/4 cup whole allspice
In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Tie 1 tablespoon batches of the mixture in cheesecloth or muslin bags, tie with a string. As decoration, you can tie a stick of cinnamon to the outside of the bags. One bag is enough to flavor 1 quart of cider. Yield: 14 Sachets Or make these a little differently to make sachet's for your dresser drawers or to give as Christmas gifts, instructions below!!
Dresser Fragrance Sachets
Using the same recipe as above cut Christmas print fabrics to the size you like. Then either machine sew or whip stitch both sides together leaving a small opening. Then stuff the apple spice mix in, finish stitching and your Christmas Sachet's are done!


Bath Salts

1 pound of Epson Salt
1 cup of baking soda
fragrance oil or essential oils
a drop or two of food coloring
Mix all together and put it in some pretty bottles


Lavender Bubble Bath

1 bunch Lavender
1 large bottle clear organic shampoo
5 drop oil of Lavender
Clean wide-neck jar with screw top place lavender head down in the jar. Cut down to fit. Add shampoo and Lavender oil. Close and place in sunny window (sorry if you are not in a place the sun shines.


Bath Tea Bags

Take a little tulle, a little organza ribbon, some scents and salts, and voila! Instant spa! Steep your stresses away with these nifty little bath bags. They make great gifts too, if you ever get out of the tub...
Supplies:
1/4 yd. Shiny Star organza
1/4 yd. Antique Gold organza
2 1/2 yds. Gold 1 1/2 in. Europa sheer ribbon
1/2 yd. Green Europa sheer ribbon
Gold thread, needle
1 pkg. Dried lavender
1/4 cup Epsom salts
Chamomile tea
Aleene's™ Tacky Glue

Directions:
Cut two 6" pieces Shiny Star organza.
Cut four 6" pieces Antique Gold organza.
Layer two gold pieces, two star pieces, and two gold pieces.
Pin all layers together and sew around all four sides, leaving a 1" opening at top for bath salts.
Break up lavender bunches. Mix salts and tea in ceramic or glass bowl, stirring gently until well mixed. Fill bag with mixture.
Cut 1 1/2 yd. piece of gold organza ribbon for tie. Fold piece in half, and insert folded edge into tip opening of bag. Sew opening closed, catching ribbon.
With remaining gold sheer ribbon, make ribbon rose. Use green organza ribbon to make leaves. Glue to top of bag.
Tie a bow at the top of the ribbon. Use this strip to hang your "tea bag" over the bathtub. Fill the tub with water and enjoy!


Rose water

Ingredients:
3 cups rose petals
3 cups purified water
Pick the rose petals just after the dew has been dried by the morning sun. Place in a glass or porcelain container and pour boiling water over the petals. Allow to steep for two days, stirring frequently. Strain and bottle.


Peppermint Skin Toner

Ingredients:
1 pint vinegar
1 pint purified water
1 cup mint leaves
Place all ingredients in a glass or enamel saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Pour into a glass jar and allow to steep for four days. Strain and bottle. Be sure to label with a pretty card and ribbon.


Lavender Sachet

Ingredients:
1/2 pound lavender flowers
1/2 ounce dried mint
1/2 ounce dried thyme
1/4 ounce ground caraway
1/4 ounce ground cloves
1 ounce sea salt
Detach the lavender flowers and leaves from the stems and mix with the other ingredients. Place in small bags made of silk, unbleached cotton or cotton with die-fast color. Sew shut and tie with a ribbon if desired. You can be creative with this mixture and sew heart shapes that can then be decorated with miniature ribbon roses and ribbon.


Herb Closet or Drawer Squares

Place handfuls of each of dried lavender flowers, rosemary, one tablespoon each crushed cloves and small pieces of dried lemon peel together. Sew small cotton squares about four by four inches; leaving a space open. Stuff with herb mixture. Tie several together and wrap in tissue paper tied with raffia. Attach a note explaining that these will protect clothes from insects and can be placed in drawers, closets or boxes.


Herb Honey

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon fresh herb or 1 tsp.. dried herb
1 pint honey
Choose an herb such as thyme, lavender, mint, rosemary or even rose petals. Bruise fresh leaves slightly and place them in the bottom of a small saucepan. Pour room temperature honey into the pan and heat over low heat very slowly. Stir the mixture until the honey is JUST warm, about 2 minutes. Pour the mixture into sterilized jars and seal tightly. Store the jars at room temperature for about one week to blend flavors. Then reward the honey in the same way and strain out the herbs. Recap. Jelly jars work well for this. Tie a ribbon around the neck with an attached tag with suggested uses such as: sweeten tea or punch, use in salad dressings, combine half and half with butter to use as a spread for waffles, pancakes, muffins or bread.


Lavender Beeswax Soap

4 ounces unscented, clear glycerin soap
1 teaspoon grated beeswax
1/4 teaspoon lavender fragrance oil
Violet food coloring -- (or one drop each blue & red)
Melt the soap over low heat until liquefied. Add beeswax and stir until melted. Remove from heat and add the fragrance oil and food coloring. Stir until blended. Pour into mold and let set for 3 hours.
