Apple Muffins
Contents of jar
1 egg
3/4 C. milk
1/4 C. vegetable oil
Preheat oven to 400ºF. Turn jar contents into medium bowl. Add
remaining ingredients, stirring just until moistened. Fill greased
muffin cups 3/4 full. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until golden
brown.
Chicken Noodle Soup-in-a-Jar
Ingredients:
1/4 cup of red lentils
2 tbsp. dried onion flakes
2 1/2tsp. chicken bouillon powder
1 cup medium egg noodles
1/8 tsp celery seed
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. dried dill weed or dill seed
1 bay leaf.
Directions: In a two-cup jar, layer from bottom in this order:
lentils, onion flakes, bouillon, dill weed, celery seed, garlic
powder, noodles and bay leaf. Seal jar.
Write these instructions on your gift tag:
Bring 8 cups of water to boil in large saucepan. Stir in jar of soup
mix. Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 25 minutes. Discard bay leaf
and stir in 1 1/2 cups of frozen corn or mixed vegetables and 2 cups
of cooked, diced chicken or turkey. Simmer for five minutes until
vegetables are tender and chicken is heated through.
Minestrone Soup-in-a-Jar
Ingredients:
1/4 cup each of green split peas
red lentils
barley,
alpabet macaroni
1/3 cup beef bouillon powder
2 tbsp. parsley flakes
3 tbsp. onion flakes
1/3 tsp. thyme
1 tsp. basil
1/3 tsp. pepper.
Directions:In a two-cup jar, layer from bottom in this order -
lentils, peas, bouillon, barley, parsley, onion flakes, thyme,
pepper, basil, macaroni. Seal jar.
Include these instructions on your gift tag:
In a very large saucepan combine 8 to 10 cups of water, a 28 oz. can
of crushed tomatoes, and soup mix. Add 2 chopped carrots, and 2 to 4
chopped potatoes (optional: 2 cups chopped cabbage). Bring to a boil,
reduce heat, cover and simmer for one hour or until peas are tender.

Potato Soup Mix in a Jar
1 3/4 cups instant mashed potato flakes
1 1/2 cups dry milk powder
2 tablespoons chicken bouillon granules
2 teaspoons dried minced onion
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/8 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 1/2 teaspoons seasoning salt
Combine potato flakes, dry milk, bouillon granules, onion, parsley,
pepper, thyme, turmeric and seasoning salt in a bowl and stir to mix.
Pour into a 1 quart jar.
Attach the following instructions:
To serve, place 1/2 cup soup mix in bowl. Stir in 1 cup boiling water
until smooth.
Cowboy Cookie Mix in a Jar
1 1/3 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions
1 Layer the ingredients in a 1 quart jar in the order given. Press
each layer firmly in place before adding the next layer.

1. Preheat oven to 350*. Grease cookie sheets.
2. In a medium bowl, mix together 1/2 cup melted butter or margarine,
1 egg, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Stir in the entire contents of the
jar. You may need to use your hands to finish mixing. Shape into
walnut sized balls. Place 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets.
3. Bake for 11 to 13 minutes in the preheated oven. Transfer from
cookie sheets to cool on wire racks.
Turkey Noodle Soup in a Jar
This is a great way to use leftover turkey.
1 C. uncooked fine egg noodles
1 1/2 T. chicken-flavored bouillon
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
1/4 tsp. dried whole thyme
1/8 tsp. celery seeds
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
1 bay leaf
Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl. Store in an airtight container.
Attach these instructions to the jar:
Turkey Noodle Soup
1 pkg. Turkey Noodle Soup Mix
8 C. water
2 carrots, diced
2 stalks celery, diced
1/4 C. minced onion
3 C. cooked diced turkey
Combine the Turkey Noodle Soup Mix and the water in a large stockpot.
Add the carrots, celery and onion and bring to a boil. Cover the soup
and reduce the heat to a simmer. Simmer for 15 minutes. Discard the
bay leaf. Stir in the turkey and simmer an additional 5 minutes.

Makes 3 dozen
LAYERING THE JAR
2 cups quick-cooking oatmeal (not instant)
3/4 cup jelly beans in assorted colors
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 cup sugar
Beginning with the oatmeal, layer the ingredients in the jar as
directed in the introduction. Attach the following recipe.
RECIPE
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
2 eggs
Contents of jar
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, cream the peanut
butter and eggs. Add contents of jar and stir until well-mixed. Drop
dough by heaping teaspoons onto an ungreased baking sheet, spacing
about two inches apart. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly
browned. Cool for five minutes; then remove to a rack. Store airtight
for up to two weeks.
Chocolate Covered Raisins in a Jar
3/4 C. sugar
1/2 C. firmly packed dark brown sugar
1 C. chocolate covered raisins
1/2 C. milk chocolate chips
1 3/4 C. flour mixed with 1 tsp. baking powder and 1/2 tsp. baking soda
Layer ingredients in order given in a 1-quart wide mouth canning jar.
Press each layer firmly in place making sure you pack it down well
before you add the flour mixture. It will be a tight fit.
Attach these instructions to the jar:
CHOCOLATE COVERED RAISIN COOKIES
Contents of jar
1 stick butter or margarine, softened to room temperature
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 375ºF. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Empty cookie mix into large mixing bowl, mixing thoroughly.
Add butter or margarine, egg and vanilla extract. Mix until
completely blended. You may have to use your hands. Shape into walnut-
size balls. Place 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheet.
Bake for 13 to 15 minutes until tops are very lightly browned. Cool
for 5 minutes on baking sheet.
Remove cookies to racks to finish cooling. Yields 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
Festive Granola ina Jar or Tin
Makes about 14 cups
Cooking oil spray
1/2 C. vegetable oil
1/2 C. pure maple syrup
1 1/2 C. light brown sugar, lightly packed
6 C. quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats (not instant)
2 C. chopped walnuts
1 C. wheat germ
1 C. sweetened, shredded coconut
1 C. raisins
1 C. sweetened dried cranberries or dried cherries
Place the oven racks in the two center positions. Preheat oven to
350ºF. Spray two 11 x 17-inch jellyroll pans with cooking oil spray.
Set aside.
In a 1-quart microwave-safe bowl, combine the oil, maple syrup and
brown sugar. Microwave, uncovered, at high for 3 minutes, or until
the sugar starts to melt. Remove from the microwave and whisk until
any lumps disappear.
In a 3-quart or larger bowl, combine the oats, walnuts, wheat germ
and coconut. Toss to mix well. Pour the syrup mixture over the oat
mixture and stir until well-mixed. Spread evenly onto the jellyroll
pans.
Place a pan on each oven rack and bake for 10 minutes. Taking note of
which pan was on the top rack, remove the pans from the oven, stir
the granola, and place the pans back in the oven, rotating to the
opposite rack.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes more, taking care not to over-brown, then
remove from oven. Cool in pans for 1 hour, or until granola reaches
room temperature. Sprinkle half the raisins and half the dried
cranberries over each pan. Mix well. Store in airtight containers,
preferably glass jars or tins, until ready to serve, up to 2 weeks.
Potato Soup in a Jar
1 3/4 C. instant mashed potatoes
1 1/2 C. dried milk
2 T. instant chicken bouillon
2 tsp. dried minced onion
1 tsp. dried parsley
1/4 tsp. ground white pepper
1/4 tsp. dried thyme
1/8 tsp. turmeric
1 1/2 tsp. seasoning salt
Combine all ingredients in a bowl; mix well. Put ingredients in a 1
quart jar.
On gift tag write: Place 1/2 cup mix in soup bowl; add 1 cup of
boiling water; stir until smooth.
