Level 4 - Bubblegloop Swamp

Quick Analysis
Aside from the minigame against the red alligator, this level should prove to be less sticky than a real swamp. Use the alligator form, not the wading boots, to retrieve the final Jinjos and notes from the swamp water.

Map
Show me the map of Bubblegloop Swamp (51K).

Where's the Mole?
1. Look right behind the start. He'll tell Banjo about the Wading Boots.

Easy Jigsaw Pieces
See the map for a more precise look at the Jigsaw pieces' locations.

  1. Mad Dash - Hit the switch north of the level start. Use the Talon Trot to run up the thin green ledge to the Jigsaw piece.
  2. Kill Six Frogs - Fight the six frogs that come out of an island of tree stumps. Using the alligator form works well.
  3. Break the Egg - Find the pink egg in the west part of the level. Use Banjo-Kazooie's various attacks to break the egg five times. A quick note: Grab the 1-Up on top of the egg before breaking it!
  4. Stomp the Turtle's Feet - Use the Beak Buster to stomp the turtle's four feet.
  5. Play a Turtle Toon - After stomping the turtle's feet, go in its mouth. Mimic the turtle's tunes inside by stomping on the note turtles in the correct order!
  6. Shoot the Croc's Mouth - Look for the five crocs that pop up through the level and shoot eggs into their mouths. You'll find the first croc to your left at the start.
  7. Stomp the Huts - Use the Beak Buster to stomp all six huts in the north part of the level. The Shock Jump will be needed to get to all the huts.
  8. Jinjos - Use the alligator form to easily grab the pink and orange Jinjos. The rest are in plain view, although Banjo must climb a cattail to get to the blue one.

Difficult Jigsaw Pieces
See the map for a more precise look at the Jigsaw pieces' locations.

  1. Thin Ledge - The wacky camera angles make this tougher than it really should be. Just north of Mumbo's hut is a switch and a thin ledge. Hit the switch and run across the ledge quickly. It's better to fail and try again than to fall and take damage in the piranha-infested waters. Try walking carefully to the midway point, then make a mad dash and jump at the puzzle piece. There'll be just enough time to grab it.
  2. Shoot the Croc Game - The cheating alligator not only makes up the rules, but wins all ties - making this the game's first truly challenging puzzle piece to get.

While in alligator form, crawl into one of the nostrils of the big alligator head just below Mumbo's hut. The first game is easy. Chomp more red Yumblies than the other opponent. Press B when near a mole to eat it. The timing takes a little getting used to, because sometimes the chomp doesn't register properly. Try to stay in the middle of the arena to react to new moles. Also, whenever possible, steal any mole just before the opponent gator tries to eat it. This ensures an early lead.

The second game plays much the same, but avoid eating yellow moles. They freeze Banjo up momentarily.

Here's where things get rough. In addition to the yellow ones, there'll be an icon at the top indicating the correct color to eat. The colors switch roughly every six seconds. What sucks is that eating a Yumblie midway through a color switch will result in a costly time penalty. Try to learn the timing of these switches to avoid getting caught. What stinks the most is that when Banjo leaves (or dies), the minigame resets itself! It might be wise to save this piece for later when Banjo's health meter is a little bigger and has the Sprint Shoes.

The 5 Jinjo's
There are 5 Jinjo's to rescue in each level. If you collect all of them you'll be rewarded with a Jigsaw piece and later on ...

Blue Jinjo - On top of a cattail behind the big croc.
Green Jinjo - This one is in one of the alcoves of the mid-air path where you dashed for the first Jigsaw piece.
Pink Jinjo - Under one of the huts islands.
Orange Jinjo - Easy, just behind Tanktup in the water.
Yellow Jinjo - On a pillar to the left at the first bridge.

Honeycomb Pieces
First - Go inside the big turtle's shell. Stand on the conductor's podium and jump up.
Second - Go inside Mumbo's hut and jump to the circular ledge. It's near the ceiling.

100 Music Notes
Here are the locations of all 100 musical notes scattered around Bubblegloop Swamp. Collect all of these notes as they will enable you to break the spells on the special note doors throughout Gruntilda's Lair.

5 Notes - Across the bridge at the start.
15 Notes - On the five small grass bridges.
5 Notes - Behind the large pink egg.
  4 Notes - On Tanktup's feet.
  6 Notes - Inside Tanktup.
5 Notes - On the large Crocodile's head.

The Mumbo Tokens
Travel through the swamp maze and you'll find Mumbo's hut. To use Mumbo's magic you must have plenty of tokens to exchange for his magical spell. If you find you are short of token, here are the locations of the tokens hidden around the swamp.

Token   1 - Inside the large Crocodile head.
Token   2 - Underneath the hut platforms.
Token   3 - Underneath the hut platforms.
Token   4 - On top of one hut platform. Use the Shock disc to get it.
Token   5 - Inside Tanktup's mouth.
Token   6 - On the ledge inside one of the alcoves where you dashed for the first Jigsaw piece.
Token   7 - Behind the platform the yellow Jinjo at the start was standing on.
Token   8 - Inside Mumbo's hut.
Token   9 - Behind Mumbo's hut.
Token 10 - On the top of a cattail near the large pink egg.

Gruntilda Stomp Switch
In the area where Banjo-Kazooie must stomp on all the huts on platforms, look under one of the huts.
