Easy Jigsaw Pieces
See the map for a more precise look at the Jigsaw pieces' locations.
- Box Boss - Go first to the TNT box suspended in air. Climb the rope to the top of the crane, then cross to the other side - look for a ladder to the right of the crane. Hit the switch by sliding into it (press B while holding Z). Enter the hole made by the TNT. The box must take many hits before it blows up and splits into smaller boxes. Try to focus on killing one set of boxes at a time, to reduce the number of boxes hopping around. An OK method is to use the Beak Buster and/or the Rat-a-Tat Jump. Use the ladder as a "safe spot" or jump off the ladder to attempt a Bomb Dive Jump. The best method: Go in with gold feathers and touch those boxes as often as possible. Then use eggs and normal attacks to clear out whatever's left.
- Play That Tune - While on the boat, look for a six-digit number. It's possible this number may change from game to game, but the one I found was 312-111. Go to the front of the boat to find three horns with numbers underneath. Input the correct number sequence by stomping on the numbers.
- Free That Dolphin - Swim under the front of the boat to find a dolphin trapped under an anchor. Talk to it. Swim through the hole where the anchor chain goes into the boat. Inside hit a switch to lift the anchor.
- Run Under the Cage - Go to the yellow crane near the boat's front and Beak Barge into the switch. A timer will appear on screen. Now run like mad up the ladder and across the crane. When halfway across the crane, jump down to reach the lifted cage on the boat. To avoid taking damage from that fall, press A just before hitting the ground. Run under the cage before time expires.
- Atop the Smokestack - This is a very simple piece to get. Use ladders and walkways to get to the top of the boat's front smokestack. Watch out for those pesky wall creatures that slow your progress.
- Swim Inside A Building - Inside this entrance is a room with a puzzle piece. Jump across these floating crates to make it to the top of the room, where the Jigsaw piece is.
- Shoot Odd Portholes - Although this is a very easy piece to get, it's also one of the toughest to find for unobservant gamers. Look at portholes colored differently from the rest. Use the Rat-a-Tat Jump or shoot them with eggs. This room lies behind a porthole on the north end of the ship, near the left smokestack. Look in the wood cabinet.
Difficult Jigsaw Pieces
See the map for a more precise look at the Jigsaw pieces' locations.
- Slow Down the Fans - This is difficult because it requires two steps. First, jump into the air pipe near the rear of the ship to find a switch. This slows down the fans in the engine room. Go to the engine room. It's behind a door at the bottom of the right smokestack. Beak Barge into the door to bust it open. Drop down. Run and jump across the rotating walkways when they stop moving. Make sure the camera's positioned optimally before attempting any crossing. Jump up the gears, then jump through the fan blades ahead as they slow down. The puzzle piece lies behind it.
- Slow the Propellers! - Ideally, the best time to tackle this puzzle is just after Puzzle Piece G. However, it's tough to do in one life - unless you're an Expert Gamer! Left and right of the fans in the engine room are two switches that turn off the propellers. Hit the left one first, then right. Grab the extra life and eggs next to the left switch. A timer will pop up on screen. Here's where things get tough: Run to the room's entrance, go up the ladder and sprint to the back of the ship and dive. If done efficiently (time the hit of the second switch just as the moving platforms freeze), there'll be barely enough time to grab the Jigsaw piece.
- Jinjos - All are in plain view except the blue and pink ones; jump in a hole atop a blue crate to find the blue Jinjo inside. The best bet: Save the pink Jinjo for last. Its retrieval requires a difficult underwater dive, which may require sacrificing a life. Dive for it, get the Jinjo, then get the puzzle piece and swim away before air runs out.
The 5 Jinjo's
There are 5 Jinjo's to rescue in each level. If you collect all of them you'll be rewarded with a Jigsaw piece and later on ...
Blue Jinjo - In the middle blue crate with a open hatch on top.
Green Jinjo - In the radioactive waste dump.
Pink Jinjo - Under a grate in the water, from the start right. Go through a hole below.
Orange Jinjo - On the docks past "Toll 8" bridge.
Yellow Jinjo - On a buoy with the shark.
Honeycomb Pieces
First - When you are descending down the first smokestack, there is a small niche above the exit to the engine room. Inside that nice is the Honeycomb Piece.
Second - In the sharkpool, where you rescued the yellow Jinjo, the building on the right has a crack underwater. Enter the building by swimming through the crack. Inside stomp the switch and use the Flying Pad the reach the Honeycomb Piece.
