Here are the directions on how to install the idler arm brace from Automotive Customizers. The directions are exactly as they are written on the AC directions. | ||||||
1. If your vehicle has the original skid plate, you may need to remove it during installation. Check to make sure idler arm is not bent or damaged, or the brace will not be effective. If installing the new idler arm with your brace, you must reallign the front end. If you are just adding the brace, no alignment is necessary. 2. Loosen the lower idler arm nut so it can be removed by hand. Loosen and remove the 2 front idler arm nuts. 3. Remove the lower idler arm nut, makind sure the large flat washer remains in place on the arm. 4. Place the side of the brace with the sinlgle hole through the lower shaft of the arm. Rotate the brace counterclockwise so bolts meet the hole in the brace. 5. Hand tighten all three nuts. Fully tighten the lower nut, pushing the brace up. Do not over tighten. Tighten the remaining nuts attaching the brace to the frame. 6. It is recommended to use Lock-Tie on all nuts and bolts and to retighten the nuts and bolts after 100 miles of driving with the brace. HAPPY WHEELIN' Here is some additional info that may be of use when installing this product. 1. Check the local weather forcast. I got completely douched with water while I was installing this thing. I can hardly read the directions because the paper was soaked in water. It should have only taken me about 15 minutes, but for some reason it took me 30. Oh, yeah, it was because I couldn't even see the torque numbers on the torque wrench becuase it was raining so hard. 2. Torque specs from Haynes manual Idler arm to frame bolts: through 90 .............................36-51 ft/lbs 91 and later.............................40-51 ft/lbs Idler arm nut............................40-51 ft/lbs |
