WHO AM I?
I am a practicing civil and structural engineering, working for an international firm of consultants. I am based in Glasgow, Scotland. Recent projects include design of the structures for a water treatment works (clean water), station refurbishments and housing projects.

Before this, I studied for a PhD at the University of Paisley's
Advanced Concrete and Masonry Centre. During this time I studied methods of mix design of fibre reinforced concrete.

One of my main interests is the environment and sustainability, which is why I have created this web site. I know there is a vast quantity of knowledge available surrounding these issues but I find that it is not often practical enough for most practicing engineers. My target audience is other engineers, client bodies and stakeholders(i.e. anybody with a passing interest in what happens to our environment) so I aim to keep the technical jargon to a minimum and focus on the issues. I am doing this as a sort of hobby, so I can not spend as much time on it as I would like to. This means that there are vast unexplored themes waiting to happen. For this reason, I propose to create a mailing list to keep anyone who is interested informed when I add more content. This will not be a discussion list or anything fancy, just a list of e-mail addresses which I send a message to. It will not be used for any commercial purposes and I do not anticipate more than one or two messages a month.
