Final Thoughts
Your brain is your greatest weapon of personal security.
Your mind can be aware of dangerous situations that can be avoided entirely.
Thought alertness, you see danger and avoid it. You can keep alert by playing
scenarios in your mind. Wherever you are, look around and ask yourself two
questions. What is the present danger in this place or situation? What I can do
to escape the danger? These are some of the scenarios you can think about.
What would I do if I were held up at gunpoint in a robbery attempt in an urban setting? What
could have you done to avoid being robbed?
What would you do if you were trapped in a hotel in a strange city during a riot?
What could have you done to avoid being in this situation?
What would you do if you learned that your savings, which you trusted to a financial
planner, had vanished along with the financial planner? What could have you done
to avoid being in this situation?
What would you do if you find yourself in a strange city and all of your money and credit
cards have been stolen? What could have you done to protect some of your money?
In days long past warriors sat around campfires and told stories of
dangerous encounters and how they survived them. They probably also discussed
what they could have done to avoid some of the dangerous encounters. We don’t
tell each other these kinds of stories anymore but we should. We would all be
wiser!
