1963 Aluminum engine long block
Engine is ready for the fasteners to be replaced and holes to receive inserts.
The water jacket around the sleeves [bathtub] was severely clogged with hard mineral deposits. Mostly at the rear two cylinders.
Note how the cylinders are twinned together.
Each bore has its own cast sleeve, with the block die cast around the sleeves.
There is also a steel spreader embedded into each main web.
