Dr. Splatt and Ms.
Roadrash were driving their ice mobile with the chilling wind
biting at their faces. The spike tires cut through the ice on
the city that was once called Shipcreek. There is not a person
in sight even though it is the most populated city.
Now heading towards their cabin, they notice something unexpected!
" How long is it to the cabin?" said Dr. Splatt.
"It should be about another hour from, here." said Ms.
Roadrash.
"AN HOUR!" Exclaimed Dr. Splatt.
As he looked off into the snowcapped Chugach Mountains, what he
thinks is red snow catches his eyes.
" STOP!!" Screamed Dr. Splatt.
" What? " asked Ms. Roadrash as she slammed, on the
breaks of the ice mobile.
" Look!" yelled Dr. Splatt.
They both looked at the trail of blood leading towards the bushes
and sitka spruce, the state tree. As they stepped down from their
ice mobile they noticed a tree with many cuts þand slashes
in it.
" It looks like an animal tried to climb it." Said Dr.
Splatt.
The two of them followed the trail of blood, suddenly they came
to a halt!
" Oh my gosh! " said Ms. Roadrash.
" Cool. " replied Dr. Splatt.
The grayish colored corpse with dark brown spots and stripes lay
there limb-less.
" The fur on it looks like the material of one of my scarves.
We should go back to the cabin for tools." said Ms. Roadrash.
" Let's hurry so we can get back here fast. " said Dr.
Splatt.
As they jump back into the ice mobile and race back to the cabin.
The two of them gathered up the tools as fast as they could and
jumped back into the ice mobile to head back to the sight.
As they follow the trail of blood back to the animal they spot
something else.
" Come here! Come here! " yelled Ms. Roadrash. "
Awesome, it looks like a leg! " Exclaimed Dr. Splatt.
" Look how tough the paws are, they must have to be this
way to withstand the coldness. Look at the sharp claws, this animal
must be a climber." said Dr. Splatt.
As they collected the limbs they reached the corpse.
" Look at the weird looking tail." said Dr. Splatt.
" I've never seen such a small stubby tail, that is weird.
" said Ms. Roadrash.
They both put on their gloves to weigh the animal. They collected
the limbs and torso to weigh on the scale.
" 32 pounds exactly, Dr. Splatt replied.
" What could've attacked it? " said Ms. Roadrash.
" Well, the tracks that I see here resemble the tracks of
a wolf." said Dr. Splatt.
Then Dr. Splatt and Ms. Roadrash went to work at dissecting the
animals' stomach. They found small animal bones as well as rabbit
bones. The two of them carried the animal back to the ice mobile,
or at least tried to, but before they made it there they noticed
the ear of the animal embedded in the hard packed snow.
" It must have been torn off when it was attacked."
said Dr. Splatt.
" The ear has a very unusual black tuff pointed at the top
of it." replied Ms. Roadrash
They brought the ear to the ice mobile so t hey could research
it further back at the cabin. As the start to drive away Dr. Splatt
looks one last time at the Cook Inlet and sees the Willo Ptarmigans
fly over head, the state bird. Then suddenly he announces out
loud " I should have realized before when we saw the ear,
the animal has to be a......
